I'd love to know why a pump "could be bad for the boiler" The pump will only run when the reservoir is full, it takes 10 seconds or so to empty. Best if the soakaway is installed in free draining soil for obv reasons.

Your problem may be caused by several issues, I went to a similar fault yesterday caused by a faulty shower valkve which was allowing cold to water to crossover into the hot side. I was fortunate in that the shower valve had iso valves fitted, I isolated the cold supply to the boiler but water...

Sometimes, local water authorities have to do repairs to water pipes, invariably some debris ends up in the water and clogs the inlet filter on showers especially.

Another option would be to use a flexi pan conn, you can attach that, then push the loo back onto the flush pipe.

That looks like Hep pipe 15mm. you can use either make of elbow to repair it.

If you're going to take the cylinder out, I'd reposition the pump at the same time for future ease of access.
