Replacing a pendant light with a new LED light Help!

Further to the advice that already been given to you, what do you mean by "removed the two gang two way switch as well" Presumably, there are Two Switches on a single Wall-Plate. What does (should) EACH one control. You wrote "two way switch". However, does this mean that they were working to...

Is there any ceiling light that can act just as a cover?

Is that height "legal" (for a "habitual" room) in the UK? 2400 mm is the minimum (average) height allowed in Australia!

    Installing downlights

One wonders why you would wish to install - in a Hallway - "Downlights" - which illuminate only a small area on the floor beneath them. Recessed surface mounted wide-angle LEDs may be a better choice! Just install one replacement "luminaire" where the existing light is and install any other...

    Cable rod kits

. As a sideline to these comments, "Particle Board" or "Chipboard" flooring used in Australia differs from similar products in the UK in that each "long" edge of each 3600 mm long sheet has a groove which, on one side, comes with a strip of plastic "Yellow Tongue", This "Tongue" locks one...

Adding outdoor light to old style 2way light switch (strapper). Can’t get new light to function correctly

The original Post included the statement I took this to mean that the OP was trying to add a light in parallel with the existing 2-Way switched light, wherever it may be - as (apparently) did others. If the object is to add a new Switch controlling a new Light by sourcing Line and Neutral at...

    Fluorescent light ballast help

Please provide a link. Having read about the "Device for Connection of Luminaires" (DCL) , introduced to Europe in 2005, (according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Device_for_Connection_of_Luminaires ) I can see that it may be the cause of the demise of the "Maestro" Plug In Ceiling Rose...

Adding outdoor light to old style 2way light switch (strapper). Can’t get new light to function correctly

From your statement concerning "strappers", it appears that the 2-way switches are wired according to the following diagram https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:3-way_light_switch_diagrams#/media/File:3-way_switches_position_2_uni.svg (However, it may be that they are wired according...

Do I need an Earth Rod Fitted?

I do not believed that I ever referred to a TT situation. (It is "interesting" that you refer to previous installations being "updated" to TN-C-S, which is [perhaps] an indication that other installations, such as yours, were more "primitive". See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earthing_systemn...

It should have been "between 25:45 and 28:30." I mistyped - corrected.

Do I need an Earth Rod Fitted?

It is specifically stated (elsewhere in the video that this is not protection against a Lightning STRIKE. It is a protection against the "discharge" caused by a lightning "Event" in the area. As far as I am aware : - NO. Virtually all Domestic/Commercial installations are TN-C-S

Do I need an Earth Rod Fitted?

You could do worse! However, in that Post I did write:- "These are discussed in this video, starting at 21:00 and the reasons for System Grounding are discussed starting at 23:00. Note that at (at 27:00) he states "The (System) Grounding Electrode conductors shouldn't be any longer than...

    Bulkhead lamp for modern bulbs?

Not banned in Australia, although they are often in "short supply". Of course, you can obtain "paint" for applying a "frost" effect on glass.

    Bulkhead lamp for modern bulbs?

Filament LEDs get over this problem by having the small number of auxiliary components they require located in the BASE. The Base and the Base-Holder both act as heat sinks. Most of the HEAT generated in a LED filament Lamp is in the LEDs themselves and NOT in the auxiliary components.

Start using "Filament LED" "bulbs". More efficient, also.

    Flag dynamics

If you really do mean that "The flag is firmly attached to one side of the pole" and cannot be raised or lowered you in contravention of "Flag Protocol" in that a flag must be lowered at sunset, unless it is illuminated at night. https://www.flaginstitute.org/wp/uk-flags/british-flag-protocol/...

Do I need an Earth Rod Fitted?

As discussed in Post #26, the purpose of a local "Earthing Electrode" (Earth Rod) is to provide low IMPEADANCE System Earthing, to "Earth" voltage surges - mostly caused by "lightning events". It is not to provide a low RESISTANCE (fault) current path - back to the Source of supply - which is...

Cooling the home, are these costs real?

While I only "scanned' the BBC article a cost of over £100 be week for "Air Conditioning" a "Living Room" is quite ridiculous and you may note that I am in Australia, where Cooling in Summer is essential. Further, modern "Reverse Cycle" "Inverter" Air Conditioners are actually efficient "Heat...
