Need to get HD TV signals into other bedrooms

Ideally the older scientific atlanta V+ box which has component video outputs. You cant watch some protected movies through that system though. Otherwise a HDMI splitter and a long cable run. It sounds like you will need a very long cable run and you might have problems with this. A lot of...

    TV aerial

I cant recommend any fitter but I would get a good quality aerial and the cable yourself and get someone to fit it for you. Have a read of the following link so you can get the most suitable aerial and high quality CF100 cable. http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/best_aerial.htm

Samsung LE40M87BD 40" LCD TV Clicks but won't turn on

The first thing I would do is shine a torch on the screen to see if the tv is not switching on or if the back-light has gone. If its the back-light that has gone you should be able to make out the picture. There has been an issue with some samsung tv's and the backlight failing.

Yes its called trimix as it contains helium, nitrogen, and oxygen. As you start going below about the 50M mark normal 21% oxygen starts becoming toxic so you need to use less oxygen. That means a higher nitrogen content and combined with the deeper depth increases the amount of decompression...

    LG 42PX3RVA

Sounds about right apart from getting replacements from Maplin. I dont believe they sell the low ESR high temperature capacitors that you should use in power supplies. RS Components are a good supplier but you need to make sure you get the correct type, voltage rating, capacitance rating...

    LG 42PX3RVA

If the capacitor has completely failed then the output voltage from the powersupply will be very unstable and could basically crash a processor. In Sky HD boxes which often had this problem the first symptom was failed recordings or picture breakup followed by the box refusing to come out of...

Thats mostly true but you are comparing nitrogen to dry air. When tyres are inflated normal air us used which contains water vapor. This does cause the tyre pressure to change a lot more with temperature. As I do scuba diving I might get one of these. The cylinders are filled with dry...

    LG 42PX3RVA

Can you post a picture of this capacitor? The tops often have ridges in them to weaken them at a certain point so if they go wrong and build up pressure they just split. Capacitors bulging like this is one of the most common failures but it normally just leads to unreliable operation and...

    Another drill question

SDS is a different way of holding the drill bit or other device. Instead of a chuck which clamps the shaft a SDS shaft is always the same size and has a fitting to make it fit better. This means it is much better for things like drilling where a conventional chuck has a tendancy to slip. SDS...

    Another drill question

There is no overall best battery technology. Ni-Cd is old and is only really used in cheap tools and is best avoided. Ni-Mh is much better. Ni-Mh is a very good battery technology for everyday use. It doesnt suffer as much in cold enviroments like li-ion does and also copes much better...

    Another drill question

I have the Ryobi 18V drill and it is very good. Bosch stuff also seem to be very highly regarded. Whats the difference in cost and features?

    Skoda Fabia central locking

Yes my audi locks the door over about 10mph. I also know there is an option to automatically lock the boot over 5mph and to turn on/off the audible tone when setting the alarm. Mine also appears to store different settings for different keys although the only thing I have found different...

    Skoda Fabia central locking

Those VAG (Volkswagon, Audi, Seat, Skoda) cars have lots of options which can be set by the dealer. I suspect what you mentioned is an available option which is just not enabled currently.

    Punctures.

When I have a BMW with 225/50/16 tyres I certenly noticed the tyre pressures changing with temperature. If I pumped them up when it was cold and then checked a month or so later when the temperature was 15C higher I could see the pressures were anything up to 2psi higher and that was with cold...

indoor aerial need quick reply please

It will probably mostly work but could well have problems if people walk infront or someone tuns on a vacuum cleaner for example. This is a good guide on aerials:- http://www.satcure.co.uk/tech/best_aerial.htm

    sky+ box

If you do want to run the box with a single LNB feed then you will need to go into the setup menu and turn off the 2nd input (often done when installed in flats) otherwise it will think it can record two things and fail saying it lost the satellite signal.

    dvd player circuit board..

The only real ic thats used in a power supply is the switch mode controller which controls the pulsing of the transformer output through a transistor to maintain the correct output voltage. In most cases it is the final capacitor which fails and that can put extra strain on the transistor...

    Flipping and rotating digital photos

Thumbs Plus will do it as it has a batch converter. It is quite expensive but if you only need to use it once the free trial might suffice

    Cinitec Dvd 2200

Standard switch mode power supply design. Mains comes in and does through a transformer to reduce the voltage a little. Then a transistor switches that lower AC voltage on and off very fast into a capacitor and it will stop switching for brief moments in order to maintain the correct output...
