Yet another Vaillant problem - VCW 242 and lack of hot water

OK people - got it sorted! Thought I'd better post the fix for future searches by other people so hopefully they don't have to go through the rigmarole. I do appreciate everyones input on this problem and hope this returns the favour to other people. On to it... It was indeed the NTC...

Yet another Vaillant problem - VCW 242 and lack of hot water

Ah - forgot to mention that! The system was overhauled when we moved in - flushed the lot - little sludge anyway. Then put sentinel in. Had the heat exchanger off - the new metal type (found the old plastic one in the garage at the time) and descaled it at the time the system was flushed...

Yet another Vaillant problem - VCW 242 and lack of hot water

Hi people We've got an ANCIENT Vaillant VCW GB 242 EB using LPG. Everything was fine until just before Christmas when the hot water started to become really dicey! DHW would just not get hot - warm (just) but not hot. Read loads on here and initially thought might be diaphragm in...

    Confirming I've got this right...

I geddit now, the N-E fault will still be present on a SP downstream RCBO so the upstream TD RCD will 'wait a bit' then trip! Just what I wanted to avoid! But answer me this... and rest assured your wisdom is being soaked up like a sponge and greatly appreciated... If an RCD detects a N-E...

Already have the RCBO's in place for the Ring circuits... dont fancy having them all on one RCD and then having the whole house go down when Im away! So can I confirm.. 100mA time delayed RCD Incomer MCB's for lights and radial circuits to rmote CU's with their own RCD's RCBO's for Ring...

    Confirming I've got this right...

Why cant I have a 100mA Time delayed RCD incomer with single pole RCBO's (for socket outlets) and MCB's for lighting circuits all on the same busbar? Huh? Huh? It seems that if I have split load busbar then SP RCBO's are fine for the unprotected side so why not for an RCD protected busbar?

I really do appreciate your help so bear with me... I havent started this remedial work yet so I still have time to notify them... my queries and understanding that Imight have it wrong only started today! Why do the RCBO's need to be DP? What are the indications for SP RCBO's then? Why...

I didnt want to get into the whole part P thing... I just wanted answers to my questions thats all... And yes I did wish I'd asked before Id fitted it all... but it was all done between Jan 2004 when I moved in and about June 2004 by the time it was all done. As far as part P is concerned...

    Confirming I've got this right...

The price of the RCBO's is getting silly so perhaps the time delayed RCD is the way to go. Another question... Does the time delayed RCD just replace the incomer and the busbar stay the same or does it now have to be a split load configuration? This means the 16 module CU is now getting...

    Confirming I've got this right...

With regard to PME - requested a quote for that months ago - REC wanted over £500 to fit it... not a chance! I think 10mm would be better but think it would have to be derated cos of going through two walls both with cavity wall insulation. Therefore I think 16mm might be better or is that...

    Confirming I've got this right...

Sorry the question was too long but I wanted to get all the information across instead of people having to ask for more info before they could answer... sorry if it was too much! So I should have used 10mm cable for the radials to the garage, attic etc but do they need to be derated if they...

    Confirming I've got this right...

Hi people Just confirming Ive got this right... Most of this work has been done after reading and inwardly digesting the regs but after reading a lot of your posts I'm now beginning to wonder whether I got it right... so much conflicting advice... so if I have made any glaring omissions...
