    Installing floorbox, power and networking

Have settled on some PVC conduit secured to the joist at either end, one conduit for the data cables and one for the ring cables. A steel beam runs between the points im going between which has made life harder-have had to drill holes in the beam to pass my conduit through. When lifting...

    Plug Socket Question

Look on MK's website-all their products are available on there to view. From a technical point of view, 2 earth terminals on one socket outlet is required for circuits that require high integrity earthing. HIE is required where a protective conductor current is expected to be over 10mA...

    Installing floorbox, power and networking

Just laying the cables in the void is definitelly the easiest option. Lets face it-the chance of it ever being screwed into or damaged is very slim indeed. Frustrates me sometimes thinking about some of the stuff ive seen done by people, and here i am going on about a 4 metre run of cable in a...

    Installing floorbox, power and networking

There is insulation in the void put i think a lot of it could be pushed out using a rod of some type, although i consede it wouldnt be easy. Thats a good possible solution Coljack, its about as good as anything else ive though of. Its either that or chop a wide enough channel in the...

    Installing floorbox, power and networking

Lol electrician, im tempted! Not the mechanical stress im worried about really. The chipboard on the bottom of the void is the roof of the ground floor building-dont want anybody hanging any future light fittings screwing up into the cable. Id much rather it run in conduit or be clipped to...

    Installing floorbox, power and networking

Got a job to do in an office at the weekend which involves installing a floorbox. The floorbox will have 2 double gang socket outlets installed in it and 4 x RJ45 network outlets. The floorbox is going to be an extension of the ring circuit and has got to come from a surface mount moulded socket...

Running rough after engine warms up

Hi, just finishing the post off to maybe aid other users in future who may have the same problem. The fault turned out to be coolant sensor related-the actual sensor was fine but one of the wires that ran to the CTS in the harness had broken. I eventually found the problem doing continuity...

Running rough after engine warms up

Right, changed the CTS and the lambda today and the problem still persists..........  Im hoping to get the other sensors tomorrow to try out. Can anyone else think why the car would be ok until the engine has warmed up? im hoping im on the right track with the sensors. Regards.

Running rough after engine warms up

Well, this weekends job is to completely strip down the throttle and take a look-might aswell clean it out whilst im at it and replace the gasket. My first look at vacuum leaks didnt throw up anything though so im still more leaning towards a sensor problem. The problem did come on at first...

Running rough after engine warms up

I see your point about the code reader probably not being as usefull on my car as other later models. The diagnostic i had done only showed the first 3 faults that i mentioned in the first post. I have got a lambda sensor from a scrappy to try out in the morning as this was one of the things...

Running rough after engine warms up

Avocet, thanks for the write up, you seem pretty clued up so ill pick your brains again if i may..... Ive been running the car the last couple of days with the CTS disconnected and have noticed the problem does occur (unfortunetly) but takes a lot longer to become noticeable and the loss of...

Running rough after engine warms up

Thanks for that johnny, am going to order the part tomorrow. The only other comment i can make is that the engine appears to idle roughly. It looks a bit shaky and sounds like it jumps and splutters occasionally. Would this be symptoms of a vacuum leak? When diagnostics were done it...

Running rough after engine warms up

Right, further update....... I ran the car today and problem still persisted, so i turned the engine off and disconnected the coolant temperature sensor (from the base of the thermostat housing i think it is).........and guess what, the car runs fine. If i run the car with it connected the...

Running rough after engine warms up

Hi, ive been experiencing problems with my Vw polo 1999 1 litre which ive mentioned in another thread (starting a new one as ive narrowed the problem down)) The car runs fine for 2-3 minutes of driving and then suddenly the engine seems to 'lose' power and its very sluggish to accelerate. I...

Throttle Body Vacuum leak, worth fixing?

Hi, thanks for the suggestions The frustrating thing is that the problem is really distinctive. The car runs fine for 2-3 minutes and then suddenly it loses the ability to accelerate quickly as it should. I would say the acceleration ability is halved. I cant afford to have it looked at again...

Throttle Body Vacuum leak, worth fixing?

Following on from a previous post i would like some more advice if someone would oblige. Polo 1 litre which is hesitating on acceleration and has a small loss of power. I had a mechanic replace some faulty tappets which now sound loads better. He mentioned a further problem on the car though...
