Take one of the handles to a local locksmith who'll be able to identify and source replacement keys.

    PVC Front Door handle screws

Unusual for the screws to be too short - is your door excessively thick? The problem you'll have, is that the screw heads will be colour coded to the handle colour. Buying replacements you'll end up with either a brass/stainless screw. If I think of a supplier who may be able to help - I'll...

up & over garage door falls shut !

If it was a snapped cable, then it would be a struggle to lift the door. More likely to be a duff spring or weight setup.

Fitting a cat flap in a moulded upvc door

I think you will find the mouldings are hollow, so cutting/sanding will look a real "bodge" job - in my opinion. Far better to find a local UPVC supplier and get them to supply a flat panel - far less hassle.

Fitting a cat flap in a moulded upvc door

www.upvcwindow-doorparts.co.uk used to supply a flat panel (24 or 28mm thick) with a cat flap already fitted. You just had to remove the moulded panel, insert the new one (trim to size if necessary), and job done. If you move house, take the flat panel out and replace with the moulded one -...

    Brown UPVC - any problems

When the foil covering these is scratched - the white PVC behind it shows through and looks terrible. The wooden frames may require a little more annual maintenance, but look much better, and can be secured better.

    Door lock

The above depends if your mechanism's latch withdraws with a turn of the key. If not, then you've no way of letting yourself in.

Door handle / lock stuck fast.......

If the handle will not go past the 3 or 9 o'clock position (horizontal in other words), and the lock cylinder is definately at the open position - then if I were you I'd try using a little more force to pursuade the handle downwards. It's a common problem when the mechanism forces itself...

How to change garage lock without key?

Picture would be great, but I'm going to assume you've a henderson type T handle with the key going into the middle of the handle. If you can get inside via another door, then the handle can be replaced easily by disconnecting the cables/bars and unscrewing the handle from the rear. Just...

how to fit bathroom mortice latch

The lock will probably come with a template for you to use. If not, yes - it's a matter of drilling a number of vertical holes to create the mortice, then finishing with a sharp chisel. Recess the faceplate and job done. The templates are rarely wrong - if anyone bothers using them

    upvc window wont open

Could be that the rods securing the top/bottom have seperated from the gearing (unlikely if both are stuck). More likely the gearing is either broke, or the spindle from the handle has become loose and isn't turning the mechanism. First step is to take off the handle and take a look...

I'd go with the air rifle solution - just make sure you have a good backstop for your pellets so they don't cross your boundary.

    Remembering customers!

Yes, I meant on a mobile phone. "The Data Protection Act 1998 (the Act) requires all organisations to have appropriate security to protect personal information against unlawful or unauthorised use or disclosure, and accidental loss, destruction or damage." With data on a PC, you will...

    Remembering customers!

Not sure if the data protection act would apply here, as name and address information is being held electronically. Normally you'd have a name and number, which could be anyone with that name. Add the address, and you've enabled someone to identify a particular person - if your phone was...

Advice please - think I may be being ripped off ...

Plus the expense of sourcing the materials - time and fuel. Its ok saying it costs "x" on the internet, or "y" at the local shed, but these things don't magically appear in the van on the morning of the job. Put it down to experience and move on.

    Removable sealant?

Theres a double sided tape that glazing installers sometimes use when the beading is on the outside - helps prevent the glass being taken out. I don't know the name, but a google may throw something up - just a thought.
