    Plastic Capping

As long as your cables run in permitted cable routes(horizontal or vertical from point) then no protection required, although agree that capping keeps it all tidy.

    some guidance on clipping wires

1)There are building regs regarding where you can drill the holes, it is recommended that they are between 0.25 and 0.4 times the span from the support and not less than three diameters (centre to centre) apart. 2)No need to clip the cables under the floor just make sure the cables are...

    Sceptic tank

Does anyone have any drawings/advice on the best warning system for sceptic tank failure. Have one with separate supply for a barn conversion about 30 metres from barn. Pros and cons of rcd protection (tn-c-s supply). tempted to go rcd route as long as decent warning system. This topic was...

    No earth from supply company

you need an electrician to check the rod with the proper test equipment. Your supply is presumably TT where the earth rod is your responsibility not the REC. On the consumer unit side your better off with a split load board. 100m/A time delay RCD for lights, imersion, boiler etc and 30m/A for...

    megaflow connections

Kai, sorry for delay but been away, can,t really put isolation spur for central heating near the tank as in loft and boiler is downstairs. Corgi guys need isolator close to boiler. Bonding not a problem as new build all plastic pipe, lovely stuff.

    megaflow connections

HDRW Thanks for that you are correct. Wasn't so much a what wires go where as more an isolation issue.

    megaflow connections

Thanks but i think we may be getting our wires crossed here, I know how to connect it all, the concern is having two seperate circuits in one housing. Theres no warning labels etc, so when the plumber comes to say for example change the tank stat he wont be expecting live wires once he...

    megaflow connections

FWL, thanks for that but this ones appears different. It has terminals 1,2 and 3 for the tank stat that connect to the valve, than in the same housing is the stat of the imersion labeled terminals A and B. Have had it confirmed by Heatrae as such. I just feel its bad design and am hoping for...

    megaflow connections

Today, had to connect up tank stat and immersion on a heatrae sadia megaflow. Both connections are in the same box on the side of the megaflow. Wondered if anyone had similar problem before as both circuits are in the same terminal housing. Just thinking along the lines of plumber/gas fitter...

    Energy Efficient Lighting

But you could swap it with the landing pendant.Where it wouldn,t be an eyesore.

    Energy Efficient Lighting

would they let you fit a low energy outside light possibly with photocell. This often satisfies part of the requirements on new builds. You can also get low energy pendants that only take the correct bulb, and you can always remove them when the works signed off.

    lighting query.

Have you kept the same connections as before ie were all the reds together and the same 3 neutrals. If so the one remaining black wire is the switch wire from the switch. Should have red sleeving on but often neglected. Connect the light live to this switch wire and neutral to the three blacks...

    RCD Question for a beginner

Fair enough that explains it better, however I would still prefer to have ground floor sockets on the 30mA rcd as you can never guarantee that other sockets would not be used by persons for outside use or the possibility that he may one day move house.
