Ah thanks for that. So is the pipe under the nut formed into an olive and seals on the inside of the coil mail connector ? Would you use ptfe or hemp and what else on the joint ? Can you get a pushfit on the copper end. I gonna leave it till next weekend so I dont have to rush (which is...

    cylinder leak top connection

Oh it goes on.......... I found a leak on the top connector to the hot water cylinder. It has a female scew connection to the coil and a compression fitting to the pipework. This is a tank I changed a couple of months ago. I used PTFE and now wondering if hemp would have been better...

Adding Fernox Boiler silencer via radiator

Well I added it - it came out of the bleed holw but with a finger on that you could here it going in. I cracked the rad nut and drained the water from it but maybe you can do it as per instructions if you put a thumbe or clamp the bleed hole. I wouldn't say it was easy but it can be done now...

Adding Fernox Boiler silencer via radiator

The instructions were as my first post turn of rad valves - remove bleed valve - screw in mastic gun to bleed valve open radiator valve and inject. I was hoping to hear if someone has done this method ok. I might try it and if a problem crack the nut and drain. Cheers John

Balnce valve on pumped Central heating system

Hi Chris The bypass seems to bypass the heater coil in the cylinder. I've just found a leak at the top heater coil connection with the cylinder which I've carefully tightened and hopefully cured (fingers legs toes crossed). Cheers John

Adding Fernox Boiler silencer via radiator

HI Chris It is in a mastic tube - which I suppose is like a big syringe - I have no towel rail. I'm just concerned as you will be pushing against the heating system. I'm thinking of using the upstairs bathroom radiator. Cheers John

Balnce valve on pumped Central heating system

I would like to check the position of my balance valve. Which has a brass cover over the square key. It looks like a Comap C x C Gatevalve L/S Brass 15mm as seen on screw fix...

Adding Fernox Boiler silencer via radiator

Hi My boiler is noisy after changing the hot water cylinder a couple of months ago. I've got some Fernox boiler silencing stuff that you add via a radiator. The pack says close of rad valaves - open bleed valve and then attach pipe and mastic gun to ran. Open valve (the one you usually use to...

Kettling when on hot water only

Thanks for the replies Hopefully this is a picture, click on it for a larger image. If it works something else I've learnt. So the problem may be they are not open enough? Presumably they is an issue if they are too far open. Cheers John

Kettling when on hot water only

I changed my cylinder recently which was a success, eventually. However I seem to have a problem with the boiler getting noisy when heating HW only. There appears to be two valves on the HW circuit which I fiddled with during another problem (I know I should have left them alone). What do...

    Testing 3 Way Valve

I think I've finally got to the end of my heating saga. Split Tank Banging Boiler Pump wrong way round (own goal)...etc Anyway before I started I had a problem in that HW only would work, CH & HW would work but not CH only. It must have been like this since I hanged the old programmer...
