    Connecting 1/2inch to 15mm pipe

that type of reply is all too common, unfortunately. There is a call for them, there is a reason for them, if there wasn't the makers simply wouldnt make them ... 1/2" and 15mm are 2 different physical sizes, sure "sometimes" you can get away with using the wrong one, but the basic rule of...

Leak! Street elbow and compression fittings!

as someone pointed out, yorkshire street end elbows tend to have a longer plain end on them, or i think you can get extended street elbows, although they are not so common, i know i've got some i picked up from somewhere because i knew they would be handy at some point when i saw them

    Combined shower and bath filler

no brand baths are a lot easier to deal with from the consumers point of view, and not as important to be branded (although quality is always important) as you pointed out, no tap holes yet, so as long as the bath is of reasonable build quality, the only thing you might struggle with later is a...

    Combined shower and bath filler

ah yes, the obvious "you get what you pay for" rules apply, and yes, i forgot the no-name warning, some of the stuff the bathstore does is brandless, and crap ! ... eastbrook are a reasonable middle man supplier, and carry a range of makes. here's the sirrus page for thermostatic bath valves...

how do I work out what make my shower is?

agreed, chances are its an unbranded trade item, and you'll be hard pushed to find exactly the right one or part, probably easier to replace the whole unit... but post a pic anyway, as there is a wide base of experience and knowledge here, someone might recognise it, you have nothing to lose...

Hydrolux showers anyone ? recommend or stear clear ?

stick with well known brands that have been around a while .... showerlux are expensive, but have very good customer service support, and a fair bit of their stuff is made in coventry, although they also have a german connection, as they use the name duscholux in europe.

    Combined shower and bath filler

yes i've seen these before and they make for a very tidy fitment indeed, couple of points 1. be aware of pressure requirements of the valve/filler, and what pressure you have and match items as required 2. the filling of the bath will take longer than normal and on a lower pressure system...

    Expansion vessel question....

ok, checked it this afternoon..... 1. First thing i noticed is the gauge was practically at zero on the front :( checked outside, and the pressure relief valve has blown open at some point overnight/today.... bugger :? 2. Checked the valve as instructed, no water, but also hardly any...

    Expansion vessel question....

i will check that after the pressure vessel checks (if i get water out of the fill valve i'll have to change it and will change the hose too at the same time) but your experience and advice is appreciated, i would not have thought about the hose until much later, if at all

    Expansion vessel question....

quick answers to the questions asked then i will go look at the FAQ as i obviously missed something in there ! 1. to replace the diverter valve on this boiler you must move the expansion vessel out of the way 2. yes it is connected via a braided hose 3. one screw in the frame it sits in is...

    Connecting 1/2inch to 15mm pipe

i hit exactly the same problem a while back while replacing a piece of pipework that was cemented into the floor.... the answer i found was a 15mm-1/2" sleeve fitting, which would slide all the way on to the 15mm pipe allowing me to mate the 2 pieces of pipe together and then slide the fitting...

    Expansion vessel question....

ok, this is on my Ideal Classic Combi NF80 boiler, recently had someone out to replace the diverter valve for me, thats all done and working, but he advised me that it seems the expansion vessel is full of water and should be replaced. now, before i go blindly and buy a replacement, i have a...

    Bypass Valve question

yes the shower is rated fairly high, and can certainly handle the pressure provided from the pump. It was damage to the pump i wanted to ensure i avoid. The shower is an electric solenoid shut off, which closes and opens rather abruptly, so i was concerned about any shockwaves that may result...

    Bypass Valve question

thanks for the reply, i've been doing a little research on the type of auto valve i would need, and i think i made a booboo when i called it a bypass valve, because that is what i want to use it as, however, looking at the bypass valves available, and how they work, it is unlikely i will find a...
