All sorted. Thank you for all your help. I had the orange wire in the wrong block, it was in with the programmer and boiler wire. Now I've put it in the correct place with the black wire from cylinder stat and blue wire from boiler. All working fine. Thanks again for all your help.

I can turn HW off from programmer and the valve moves. It just wont fire up when CH only is selected. CH and HW on together =valve moves, water gets hot and rads heat up. HW only on = valve moves, water gets hot. CH only on = valve moves but boiler wont fire up and no heat to rads. Hope...

I think the old valve is faulty because it's fairly corroded and when HW is turned on the upstairs rads also come on and get very hot with the downstairs staying cold. When you say below the level of the valve, how exactly is that done.

The little lever below the valve is just 'flopping' from side to side but if I turn off the power supply and then turn it on again I can hear the motorized valve working. If I move the lever by hand over then it will return to original position. Why is the pipe hot leading to the tank if stuck...

I cannot get my head around this. Surely if there is 240volts getting to the fan it should spin. Or am I missing the point somewhere???

sorry, test 3 is measured from disconnecting the two wires from/at the fan and then testing these two wires indivdualy to earth at the fan end. One wire reads 240volts and the other is near zero. hope this makes sense. test 1 =240volts test2=0volts test 3=240volts on one wire and near zero...

where is the location of the fan board on the myson apollo fanfare boiler. the only board I can find is right underneath in the middle behind a metal plate. This is connected to 6 wires(i think)via a male/female connector. There's not very many components on it. Would this be the fan board?
