    Energy Saving Bulbs Wattage

er . . . . . to be honest i only wanted more light, without the possibility of blowing something up. But i see what you mean about the whole heat thing and the energy savers being more sensitive, i didnt actually know anything about that. So obviously i never saw anything wrong with it being...

Does pond electrics reuire all that Part P larky?

Yeah i guess i didnt see it that way, as a security risk of some one knicking the RCD. But i think in all honesty though, thats a pretty low risk around here. But i might look into converting the existing plugs into RCD's. As for the cable itself, well the only bit running under the water...

Does pond electrics reuire all that Part P larky?

Oh, ok, i get it now. Well the house had a conservortary put on about 4-5years ago, and this had 2 plug sockets fitted to the outside of it, right about where the pond will be. I was simply thinking of plugging the new electrics into these 2 plugs, perhaps with an RCD in between, but all the...

Does pond electrics reuire all that Part P larky?

As the title really. Im looking at creating a pond in my garden which will have a little bit of a waterfall effect so im looking at a pump in the pond and a filter kit behind the waterfall. Both of which will reuire electrical power. At a later stage i might also add some lighting to the...

    Energy Saving Bulbs Wattage

Yeah i suppose your right about the heat, as the energy saving ones dont really heat up at all. But i thought it might be something to do with the amount of current being drawn by the bulb and amount the bulb socket could handle that would affect the wattage of the bulb used. I guess in this...

    Energy Saving Bulbs Wattage

Hello all Im a bit confused about the wattage rating on these energy efficient bulbs and how to work them in existing sockets. This may sound stuid but heres the dilemma:- In the conservatory there is a light fixing which takes a standard bulb. On the bulb holder itself it says "Max...

Advantages and disadvantages of a water meter?

Hello all My annual water bill has arrived for this year and its going to be £315 for the year, which works out to be about £26 a month. Its just a domestic property, with nothing daft like a pond or sprinkler system or anything that uses a lot of water. Im the only person living here so i...

Baxi Boiler - Is this repair price about right?

Why would you not have changed the diaphragms? The diverter valve cost nearly £90 and yet these 2 parts costing a mere £20 have solved the problem. Plus the labour difference between changing the diaphragms as opposed to changing the whole diverter itself. Your right on one thing though, i...

Baxi Boiler - Is this repair price about right?

Ok just an update. Finally got this sorted out about 2 weeks ago. This is the work that got carried out:- 1. Replaced PRV 2. Replaced AAV 3. Replaced both diaphragms for the Diverter Valve. Apaprt from the water now not being as heated as it used to be when the tap was fully opened...

Window Lock - Only opens quarter way.

Hopefully the images above will help. But if you need to see anything else then please just ask. All i want is for this window to open. So looking at this lock, can anything be done without having to get someone out to it or without the hassle of replacing it? Cheers.

Window Lock - Only opens quarter way.

Hope i can get this to work, but hopefully here are some pics. This is of the window in question, note the top window opens, but the big window wont as the lock is stuck:- The type of locks:- The key itself, if you cant see what it says, it has stamped on it "Securi Style 905"...

Window Lock - Only opens quarter way.

Hello all Havnt been in my new house for too long so havnt got a chance to open all the windows yet, what with the wether and everything. But recently i tried to open one of the windows in the bathroom. The top small one opens no problem. The bigger one however seemed to be locked. So i...

Baxi Boiler - Is this repair price about right?

Ok, an update. Iv now realised that the PRV is still leaking water from almost any pressure. I top it up to 1 bar and then a couple of hours later its back down to zero again. Less time if the CH is on. HOWEVER, the intresting part is that the PRV also leaks water outside and drops...

    bottom part rad coldish

Thats simple and quite normal, just due to the fact that heat rises. And so the hot water will be at the top of the radiator the longest. In general radiators cool from the bottom to top.

Baxi Boiler - Is this repair price about right?

Ok, another engineer has been out to look at it for a second opinion today. Didnt tell him what the first guy found, thinking he would find the same thing. However, this is what he found:- Pump = The screw off the "Automatic Air Vent" is missing and letting some water out. So that needs...
