    Diverter valve?

Hi all. My combi boilers giving me grief. The heating side works fine but the dhw doesn't. It doesn't light up at all. How do I tell if the diverter valves working properly? When I open the hot tap the little pin from the valve pops out and triggers the switch. I can see the pin coming out...

    Extractor and dimmer question.

Yes, thanks Lucia. I was hoping that would be the case. I understood the theory of the switched live but wasn't sure if it work at its lowest setting.

    Extractor and dimmer question.

Thanks Tony, I'll test it if you think I won't damage either the fan or the switch. The fantronix site has dimmers to control fan speed but not actual light switches. At least I couldn't see them. We can have sockets at least 60cm from the bath or sink over here. Just within reach.

    Extractor and dimmer question.

Hi, is it possible for a dimmer switch to trigger a timed and humidity detecting extractor fan in the same way a normal switch would? I'm in France where dimmers are allowed in bathrooms btw. Thanks in advance.

Any opinions on my heating system?

Igo, I know its valentines day but don't get any ideas! You're right though, how do I stop a heat dump rad dumping heat when I dont want it to? Or maybe it doesn't matter if a bathroom radiator heats up before the heat store? I'd guess that either the heat dump is plumbed into the pipes between...

Any opinions on my heating system?

Igo, you're right. I don't want to pay anyone to do work that I'm capable of doing with a bit of advice. The reason I'm asking about the heat dump is that it must be able to dump heat if theres a power failure so it must be able to function by gravity alone. I kind of imagined the two...

Any opinions on my heating system?

I can assure you that although the winter feels shorter here it still gets pretty cold. But firewood is also cheaper than the UK. I have considered putting the manifold downstairs but having it upstairs with the heat store, pump for the rads etc would mean it was in the centre of the area to be...

Any opinions on my heating system?

This is interesting. I think there are two issues emerging, 1 how the ufh is laid out. 2 the overall idea. 1 I dont think i need 100w/m2 downstairs. The house will be quite well insulated, a wood burner in the living room to make it toasty and the cooker in the kitchen which is feeding...

Any opinions on my heating system?

Thanks for the replies. I intend to do all the work myself and would like input from anyone with experience of a similar setup. The stove is a franco belge type 82 904. I cant find the output for it but a smaller one in that range does 7kw so I'm guessing this will do at least 10kw. In...

Any opinions on my heating system?

Agile, I wish I could afford to pay a very experienced heating engineer but I can't. Can anyone comment at least on my underfloor plans. 100m runs, 25m2 per run? Manifold upstairs? Is a heat store enough of a heat dump?

Any opinions on my heating system?

Hi, thanks for replying. I know its complicated, thats why I want advice. I don't know if my brains up to the job without a bit of help. I'll try and cobble together a diagram of what I'm planning. Does anyone else have any views or experience of what I want to do? Ps. Do you really have a lake?

Any opinions on my heating system?

Hi, can anyone give me their opinion on the heating system I'm planning? Solid fuel range cooker with a back boiler downstairs gravity feeding via 28mm pipe a 200 litre thermal store upstairs(i'll get a bigger one when I can afford it) leaving the possibility of adding a heat pump at some...
