Price estimate for fitting extractor fan vent through roof

For me insulated duct was not a solution. The insulated duct did work to reduce condensation in the colder loft space. But the condensation point was at the exit point, were the cold roof tiles are around the pipe and the pipe sticks into the cold air after the tiles. So the hot damp air...

Weed control fabric before compacting MOT type 1

Where are you planning on putting your membrane? My reading of your words suggest is that you are considering just under the paving stones. Which is not needed. Membrane goes at the very bottom (close to ground) layer, not the top layers.

Price estimate for fitting extractor fan vent through roof

Do you have to put it through the roof, are there any better routes through say the trim around the edge of the roof. Asking as going through the roof cools the vent pipe at that point and can cause condensation condensation to flow back down vent pipe (in my case leaking onto ceiling). Sfk

Wash Cycle finishing early, cold and wet.

Mine does that when machine detects the load is unbalanced. My solution was to ensure machine was level by re-leveling it, and putting in a smaller load. Sfk

British Gas WR1 has no lights

.... Noting that they are likely to be at mains voltage and so power needs to be off when touching them, and the cover back on to ensure no bare live wires before switching mains back on.

2 gang switch, dimmer replacement, odd behaviour (?) / new build house

Happy to be corrected as I am only a DIYer (likely I should have said that at top) so no idea if recognised. I have tended (perhaps incorrectly) to put a sleeve of some sort (normally brown) on the switched live of ceiling roses, whether the wire is brown or blue, etc. In this case was simply...

Changing LED Spotlight with rubber seal

Pull the whole unit out - it is likely held in by two big springs. Fingernails under black rim, curl hands so middle joints on fingers (which it turns out I have no idea what they are called) push against ceiling and pull with joints pushing against ceiling (this is all to minimise loading on...

2 gang switch, dimmer replacement, odd behaviour (?) / new build house

Could I also ask that you put some brown tape or brown sleeve on the wires currently in L11 and L21. (Or at a push use your pen to write a, say, 1cm long black band on both). Removed: This is because this shows that these two wires are after a switch (or a dimmer) and are hence known as...

2 gang switch, dimmer replacement, odd behaviour (?) / new build house

Sorry, took me a bit to update my text using phone to match flameport. Text now is correct in that it is critical that the wires currently on Com1 and Com2 are always the ones joined with a jumper as these are all permanent live.

2 gang switch, dimmer replacement, odd behaviour (?) / new build house

As flameport posted first, For clarity and minimise confusion, ignore this...... Com1 === SwigglyLine Left Dimmer L11 === L1 Left Dimmer Com2 === SwigglyLine Right Dimmer L21 === L1 Right Dimmer Jumper wire between Com1 and Com2 === Jumper wire between Swiggly Line left Dimmer and. Swiggly...

    Removing Blown Loft Insulation

Suggest this https://www.recordpower.co.uk/product/dx1000-fine-filter-45-litre-extractor--hplv and another length of 10cm tube. It is noisy so you need ear protection. And then sell it on ebay for £50. SFK

Sanding and re-staining a toilet seat

I would presume that no company is going to definitely say, or guarantee, that their varnish is going to withstand urine, or even standing water.

    Reduce joist height

Never done this but... I would not do it as I would be worried for evermore about compromising joist strength. But if I did I would used a router. Make up a jig so it only takes out middle section off the top of the joist. So you have a wide as possible U section cut out of joist. The jig...
