    Condensation question again, sorry!

Thing is, I first saw it in a Friday, and it hadn't rained at all that day, which is why I thought condensation.

    Condensation question again, sorry!

Hi, I've read all the threads on condensation in lofts so I think I understand the reasons, causes, and the fixes, but just wanted to check that this is indeed condensation and nothing more sinister. The wood that has the water droplets on is the underside of a lead valley. I remember...

    Replacement TRV head

Finally following up on this. Changed the head today and it's all working properly.

    Topping up boiler, how often?

So everything was fine, and this one was down to me over thinking things. From reading the internet I was under the impression that 0.3 bars was a lot of water, and to lose that three times must be a leak. The guy drained the boiler down from 1.0 to when it stops working, and it's really not...

    Topping up boiler, how often?

It's held at one bar again overnight. I'll let you all know what the engineer says today, and if he can't find anything I can start trying the things you have all previously suggested

    Topping up boiler, how often?

The general trend was three consecutive daily drops from 1.3 to 1.0 when only using the water, followed by holding steady at 0.9/1.0 for 3 days when not in use at all, so who knows.

You can see from above. It dropped to 0.9 and has stayed there for 48 hours

    Topping up boiler, how often?

I've not had the central heating on at all yet (apart from the half hour during the service). I don't really want to start messing with anything until the fella has been tomorrow, just thought it would be useful to start recording the pressures. Knowing me, there won't be anything wrong and it...

    Topping up boiler, how often?

Alright, happy to hear people's thoughts on this now. I did not isolate the boiler, instead we just stopped using it from Monday morning, so no heating or hot water. All these readings are from the digital readout Fri after service 1.3 Fri pm 1.2 Sat am 1.0 Bled rads 0.9 Topped up 1.3 Sat pm...

    Topping up boiler, how often?

With it being a combi boiler, I thought of you were only isolating the central heating flow and return you might be able to still use it for hot water only.

    Topping up boiler, how often?

I don't want to start messing with anything until Thursday when the guy is due to come back. Let's say he finds no issue with the boiler. Am I allowed to isolate it myself, or does that need to be done by someone who is gas registered? Assuming the boiler holds pressure, is it ok to use the...

    Topping up boiler, how often?

Are there any obvious tell take signs of a leak under the floor? To the best of my knowledge it's screed with tiles on top. There's no visible signs of dampness I've also just double checked all radiators and they're dry

    Topping up boiler, how often?

There's a bit that goes under the floor in what used to be the outbuilding but got converted in to living space, so I guess it could be that. Would the testing of the heating during the service have caused something to go pop? I've got trace and access on the home insurance policy, but the...

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean

    Topping up boiler, how often?

Yeah, so I'm struggling to understand why I can't see anything! I'm going to stop topping it up and not use the hot water or heating until it has been looked at. At least that way I'm not adding any more water that could be leaking out. Any thoughts on what a boiler service could have...

    Topping up boiler, how often?

Well, the saga continues. After the service I needed to top up the boiler a little. Obviously expected this as some air would have been introduced when the boiler was drained down. However, on Saturday morning the boiler had lost 0.3 bar. Same again Sunday morning and same again today - 0.3...

    Topping up boiler, how often?

Just to follow up on this. Had the boiler serviced today (by Vaillant). He was a really decent guy, reassured me as all you did that a small amount of pressure loss was nothing to be too worried about. Tested the inhibitor and we didn't have enough, so there's more of that in. Also had a slight...

    Topping up boiler, how often?

Thank you all. Not having the best of times at the moment so worries come to the forefront. I know heating systems are a complex beast with a fair bit of science behind them, but I'll try and keep trying myself that a loss of 0.1 over four months is not worth worrying about. Hopefully this can...
