    Where's my slow leak?

As an update, the pressure stayed at 1.5 when cold and rose to just under 1.6 when hot, so hardly any change. However, today the cold pressure has dropped to 1.4. This makes no sense whatsoever to me, why would it hold for so long and then drop?

    Where's my slow leak?

No, there are no visible leaks from the tundish (or any where for that matter)

    Where's my slow leak?

So the guy from the house building company came today. He upped the pressure to 1.5 and checked for leaks. Nothing obvious. Took the front off the boiler. Nothing there either. Suspected an issue with the expansion vessel but did not have pump with him to check so is going to come by at a later...

    Where's my slow leak?

Ok, follow on question I guess. Can the system reach a low pressure and then stop leaking? I mean, I've lived here over a year and the pressure has never got to zero and the boiler has always worked.

    Where's my slow leak?

OK. I'll try that. We are in a new build house, so someone should come and fix it, but going on past experience they just go for the quickest and cheapest fix. I want to know what the problem is before I get someone in if you see what I mean.

    Where's my slow leak?

So is the best bet still just to investigate each valve?

    Where's my slow leak?

I understand that. But, surely the hot pressure should be different if I start at 0.7 instead of 1.0? How do they both go up to 1.3?

    Where's my slow leak?

Yes, that was my thought. However, I don't understand how the pressure always goes back up to 1.3 regardless of what it is when cold. That's what's puzzling me the most.

    Where's my slow leak?

I appreciate everyone's input, I really do. Before, I checked again and it had gone down to 0.7, however the heating has just come on and it is back up to 1.3 again. The maximum always seems to be constant. The heating us due to go off again soon, so I'll see how low it goes this time and let...

    Where's my slow leak?

Thanks. It's plastic pipes, would they get residue on? I'll take the caps off though, I hadn't thought of that.

    Where's my slow leak?

Hi all, Really hoping someone can provide some suggestions. We have an Ideal Logic Heat 15 boiler and a Range Tribune HW cylinder all on a sealed heating system. The pressure gauge is up in the airing cupboard with the cylinder and the boiler is downstairs. When I first turned the...

CH expansion vessel. How does it work?

So let's say cold pressure is X and ev is charged at Y. When ch comes on, at the point pressure reaches Y the expansion vessel starts to take the excess volume?

CH expansion vessel. How does it work?

No problem, just curious. If I have a sealed central heating system with the expansion vessel charged at 1.5 bar, what actually happens? When the system is on and heating and reaches 1.5 bar, does the expansion vessel allow more room for the water expansion and hence keep the system pressure...

Pressure guage on sealed heating system

Thanks for the response. Cold pressure seems to haveg dropped to 0.9 when cold now, but hot is still 1.3. All radiators are roasting hot and I don't think there is any air in the system, so is this just the system settling down to its working pressure? I find it quite hard to get an...

Pressure guage on sealed heating system

I upped the cold pressure to 1.0, but when hot the system still isn't much above 1.3. Is that an issue, or expected because of the expansion vessel or some such other feature. The pressure gauge and the expension vessel are both up in the airing cupboard (boiler is downstairs) and are at the...

Pressure guage on sealed heating system

Hello, We have a heat only boiler that provides central heating and also heats the water in the unvented cylinder. Tge pressure gauge in the airing cupboard has a red line marker at 1.5 bar. Is this the maximum recommended pressure when the system is hot or cold? I have no idea what...

Air in Sealed Central Heating System Advice

Can't really see much exposed pipe work, so can't check that. I would assume it was the right stuff as all the other people on the estate would probably have tge same problem! I appreciate all your thoughts though. Out of interest, what should the drop in pressure be between a hot system...

Air in Sealed Central Heating System Advice

Thanks, Our system is plumbed with plastic pipes, could this still be the case? Would that explain why there appeared to be no pressure drop even though air was getting in the system?

Air in Sealed Central Heating System Advice

Thanks. No TRV on this radiator, the others in the house do. What kind of electrical fault can you get in a central heating system?

Air in Sealed Central Heating System Advice

Hi, We have a radiator at the top of our stairs on the landing that seems to accumulate air. Usual symptoms of being slightly cold on the top but roasting hot at the bottom. All other radiators are ok. I'm confused as to where this air is coming from as I am not noticing any visable drop...
