Interior pine doors - Varnish, Briwax or Danish oil?

Thanks both, yes I used the gripfill method on the skirting in the living room and it worked a treat. I'm actually going for MDF skirting so will be painting that white satin, but I guess the cut, paint fit method still applies. Would 500ml be enough for the two doors do you think? Been...

Interior pine doors - Varnish, Briwax or Danish oil?

Thanks for your reply, I think I'll give the Danish oil a go. Any particular brand worth getting or are they all pretty much the same? Any idea how much I'd need to buy for two doors? Just been having a look for local yards, might take a drive out to a few places at the weekend. Would the...

Interior pine doors - Varnish, Briwax or Danish oil?

I'm planning a redocoration of the front room at the moment so will have plenty of questions coming up, but one of the first things will be to put a couple of pine doors up to stop dust getting elsewhere in the house (fireplace and plaster removal). Both will probably be plain or knotty pine...

Question regarding priming / painting wooden wardrobe doors

We're in the process of renovating the front bedroom including the installation of the fitted wardrobe as can be seen in the photos. The wardrobe doors are from Jewson and have ready primed faces, I'm going to paint them with Dulux Tough Satin as I had good results with that painting the...

Just thought I'd mention I got an S&J Predator First Fix from Toolstation in the end, does the job lovely and seems to be lasting well. Still need to get myself a chainsaw though as just got a load of green offcuts from a tree surgeon :)

Best hand saw for coarse cutting

This may have already been covered but I'm after some recommendations on the best type of hand saw for rough cutting joists and floorboards into short lengths for burning. So quality of cut is of zero importance, I'm looking for fast and easy cuts. I've seen the following so far, any one...

Can I fit curtain track to this part of window?

I have a Speedy Streamline curtain rail that I'd like to fit to a window. Fixing details on curtain rail system here: http://www.fittingservices.com/products.php?product=Speedy-B%252d20-Keylock-Supports They normally just attach with wood screws so what I'd like to know is if I can...

    cat poo

We have the same problem with cats doing there business on our lawn. There's nothing that winds me up more than going out in the back garden to see piles of cat turds everywhere, mostly because we've got a little girl that loves playing in the garden and I don't want her getting anywhere near...

    Raised hearth

Thanks for the replies both, yes I've got so many thoughts and questions running round my head I sometimes don't know whether to continue an older thread or start a new one. That will teach me to proof read too, I've got access to slate not granite. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought...
