    Mains socket: integrated kitchen appliances.

I’m having my kitchen extended/refurbished and I had an electrician round the other day;..he had a look at the wiring changes/upgrades required. He reckons that free-standing ‘undercounter’ kitchen appliances (dishwasher, fridge etc) can utilize a rear mains socket, but an ‘integrated’ floor...

    Power Shower power.

The ‘Aqualisa Aquastream’ range of power showers all use a 12v transformer as far as I can see. The instruction manual says, quote: “The 230-volt mains supply to the transformer may be taken from the domestic lighting or power ring main via an approved double-pole switched fused spur outlet...

    No.

    Power Shower power.

No RCD,...it’s the old style fused consumer unit,...it will at some point in the next few months be upgraded to new consumer unit, but not quite sure when that will be though.

    Power Shower power.

Thanks terry;...If it was powered from the attic lighting circuit where would the RCD need to be positioned? I’ll have a read up on the 'super duper' power shower option,...don’t want to be spoiling her too much though!

    Power Shower power.

Bog standard hot water tank with immersion heater and Condenser CH boiler (not a combi).

    Power Shower power.

Er’indoors says she fancies changing our bathroom electric shower for a thermostatic power shower. She’s now (after all these years!) decided that our electric shower is a bit lacking;...she’s recently tried our daughters Aqualisa power shower and she’s been ‘converted’. Can a power shower be...

    Combi or Conventional.

Thanks for taking the time to post such a detailed and comprehensive reply;...really appreciated. You’ve encapsulated my thoughts entirely,...and Mrs Harvey is dead set against a combi for the same (and more) reasons as Mrs Stem. My conversation with the plumber may get heated...(no pun...

    Combi or Conventional.

Many thanks for the replies;...plumber will be round in the next few days so I'll have a few more questions for him now. Thanks again.

    Combi or Conventional.

I’m in the process of having my kitchen re-vamped and I need to replace my aged C/H boiler. I have a fairly standard set-up at the moment, conventional boiler in kitchen, hot-water tank/immersion heater upstairs, water tank and C/H header tank in the loft. Upstairs we have bathrooms/electric...

Interesting link,.. thanks for that; ...and what a magnanimous company WD40 are , quote: “In 1968 goodwill kits containing WD-40 were sent to soldiers in Vietnam to prevent moisture damage on firearms “ ...imagine the look of joy on the GI’s faces when they opened that particular gift. WD40 is...

    Worrying blown bulb

I have 13 x GU10 LAP Led’s from S/Fix,...they are all 5 years old,... used muchly and all still functioning perfectly,...no dimming on any of them. If I remember rightly one of them was DOA though. Has the quality LAP’sed in recent times then?

    Electricity Suppliers - advice?

There’s no maybe about it John :);...people who don’t know how to seek out the best deals on a regular or annual basis are the ones who are paying the most,...and that includes the poor sods paying SVT. OFGEM have been trying to bring the SVT levels under control for donkeys years and last...

    Electricity Suppliers - advice?

True;....once you’ve mastered the intricacies of the energy comparison/switching game it really is a friend for life. (n) It’s the countless thousands of customers (many elderly and ‘vulnerable’) still languishing on SVT’s that I feel sorry for.

    Electricity Suppliers - advice?

At times of rapidly increasing tariffs (the middle of last year for example) there is sometimes a judgement call needed as to the timing of your leap to a new fixed tariff. Do you tough it out for the full 12 months of your existing ‘cheap’ tariff? ,... or do you ditch it early in...

    Electricity Suppliers - advice?

Seems to be a good tariff. If I use my gas and electricity consumption it's by far the best available from any of the Big-6 at the moment. It’s only beaten by 2 or 3 of the small suppliers as well, and then not by much. The £60 exit fee might put some people off perhaps. That being said, not...
