Nice partial quoting there. I did say it was unlikely to yield results but no harm in mentioning it!

You'll need to dig some deep holes for underground cables put it in conduit to avoid it being hit when digging in the garden normally. You'll also need it on an RCD protected circuit for it. Your electrician will know all this and will advice :)

Phew - that's a relief. I was worried for a second you were really insecure about your career.

Quality of plumbing? Bellway homes, New build

If it is substantially different to the way it was sold to you (based on the plans they might have showed you or what might be in a show home of the same specification), you can certainly raise it with them. It seems unlikely they're going to do anything about it at this stage though. Might...

Have I blown my boiler electronics?

I forget the arrogance of the people around here. Why can't you comprehend the idea of someone being able to understand something as simple as domestic central heating electrics? You don't need to worry about me though, I don't have any plans to become a plumber or heating engineer and take any...

Have I blown my boiler electronics?

I'm sure this isn't the case here but, I paid a Nest "Pro" to come and install my two Nest stats but he was here about 5 minutes before deciding he didn't know what to do and claiming my system wasn't compatible. I looked into it myself and managed it self-install without any issues. I now...

It is supposed to drop out of the compartment in the door. It may not be dropping and therfore not getting any water around it to actually do its job. Check for obstructions which prevent the door from opening in the cycle. Failing that, put the tablet in your cutlery tray from the start.

OK. Seems like a good idea though even if not a requirement.

Integrated appliance - choice of unfused plug on fised spur

I thought it was necessary to have accessible (without removal of the appliance) FCU or switches when installing integrated appliances?

    Securing Electricity Meter Cupboard

Who ultimately decides on the "correct" meaning of the word, though? The fact that many refer to electrocution as both injury and death would suggest that its meaning has naturally changed and it has now become ambiguous. Ultimately, it makes little difference as the true meaning in the...

    Securing Electricity Meter Cupboard

I do love the pedantry around here! :D The Oxford dictionary defines "electrocute" as "injure or kill by electric shock". In light of this, I would say degrees of electric shock could be defined this way.

    Securing Electricity Meter Cupboard

Yes, I get that. So, in a properly installed and functioning installation, what is the most likely cause for someone to be seriously electrocuted at home?

    Securing Electricity Meter Cupboard

I thought it was quite a good way to explain potential difference, so thanks!

    Securing Electricity Meter Cupboard

In my scenario, the person doing this probably wouldn't have access to the MET (unless it was in the meter cupboard) so would likely just be connecting the supply -> MET to live. Thanks for all the insights into this though chaps!
