    OUTLET FOR HALOGEN LAMPS

Thats a good shout! I must admit I never really thought of eBay because I was mainly concerned to get rid of them in one go if possible. The thing is whatever I do with them it would really help to know what they are actually used for. Somebody has told me that he reckoned that they are...

    OUTLET FOR HALOGEN LAMPS

A pal, who owed me some money, has just returned to his native Australia for the foreseeable future and he has left me with a load of brand new boxed German made halogen lamps that are now taking up a lot of room in the garage. As anything to do with electrics and lighting, apart from the...

I can't seem to get the "FSUTIL DIRTY QUERY C:" to run. It is not recognised in Windows 2000 and I cannot run it using the 'run' command in XP.

    DUAL BOOT QUESTION?

I think you may have a point. My disk was indeed partitioned, using Partition Magic, before I installed Windows XP onto it. I will give the "FSUTIL DIRTY QUERY C:" a try and let you know what happens! Many thanks

    HELPFUL ADVICE FOR ALL CONSUMERS!

After some problems regarding a faulty, but out of warranty, TV I was sent this by a friend and although it was from an article in a magazine published some time back, it still applies today! When I brought this to the attention of the Manager of the branch where I purchased it and insisted...

Have found memory modules - now problem with On/Off button!

I did have to change the connections around on the motherboard as the existing 'ribbon' cable was not long enough! However the connectors fitted together very smoothly. I just needed to press lightly to secure the fixing.

Have found memory modules - now problem with On/Off button!

No, there are no LED lights on the motherboard. I am going to borrow a meter tomorrow to check the psu as advised. I don't think the last two points apply as it was working fine until I put in the new CD-Rom drive.

Have found memory modules - now problem with On/Off button!

I think its the latter. The button is on the front of the tower and I can see that when it is pressed it only makes a momentary contact with the component immediately behind it.

Dodgy Boiler Installation - More advice requested please!

Thanks for that, however I don't think our TRVs are 'bi-directional' because, originally, to cure the noises and banging, they were goingto quote us a fee for changing all the TRVs to 'Dual-flow' ones which they estimated would involve a day's labour!

Dodgy Boiler Installation - More advice requested please!

I posted a message back on 12th January regarding a dodgy boiler installation and received from really useful advice. Basically, the story is that about one year ago I had my old Myson combination boiler replaced with a new Potterton Performa 24 and the installing engineer, using the...

    BEWARE OF THE 'SKUNK'!!!!

A pal, in the States, has just alerted me to a really nasty little creature which first appeared just before Christmas and, as yet, there is no known cure, other than to reformat the affected hard disk partition. It is able to fasten itself to email attachments sent from an infected machine so...
