The fault you are describing is the gradiant limitation kicking in, boiler flow temp is rising to quickly. How is your system set up? is the heating split into zones? is it two or three port zone valves that are used? Is there a system by-pass fitted?

As gg has said when you reset the boiler it will go into hot water pre heat function this will fire once every 20 minutes. Does your boiler have a built in timer? or an external timer? are they calling for heat? (forget this just noticed it's a programable stat) if no fault code is showing...

When you turn the stat down do the rads keep heating? And is the red light on the RX1 on?

Yep blue light is the power indicator. If the boiler is running with no call for heat it may be replenishing the heat store, it shouldn't be on for too long though. A few minutes or 5-10 if hot water had been drawn.

Do these things not modulate?
