    Potterton Profile 40e hotwater blues...

You'll need an electrical test meter to diagnose this further; I would suggest that something is not wired correctly; or; something is sending the wrong signal; such as a faulty clock... But a leccy meter is required.

    Thorne Apollo 30/50b

I'm not sure how a thermocouple could ever keep a boiler "on" as is a safety device which fails to safe... But heck - Magic does happen I suppose :? Anyway - Check the wiring to the switch... Should be Yellow piggy backed onto Yellow (At top), then brown, then white (At bottom)...

    Potterton Profile 40e hotwater blues...

The valve should rest in the hot water position... If you are sure you have no voltage going to the valve except the switch line (Not fitted on all valves); then it's the valve itself that's knackered and needs replacing as it's got jammed.

    noisy biasi boiler

Did the installer properly commission the appliance and has he left the logbook in a filled in state? I've been called to a few brand new "noisy" boilers lately that just haven't been set up properly... The most obvious way to find out if it was setup is whether or not the benchmark book has...

heat exchanger - Vaillant system bolier

Undo the bolts and with a small amount of leverage and it just pops off.

volkera 80 manual pilot stays on

Please don't try and undertake a gas valve change on this model; the modureg has to be correctly commissioned otherwise you'll end up with explosive or no ignition and possibly a very bad burn. What is your exact model of appliance?

    POWERFLUSH....................worth the money?

@Nickso: 100% agreed; except with one thing; what an engineer writes on his job report is admissible. The engineer is a representative of the company; if they clearly state that the system has no visible installation defects; then it is deemed as an "expert opinion on behalf of the contract...

    britony flexiflue diaphragm change

If you ever get any of these in London; give me a shout... ;) ... If you clean the faces up and use a pointed implement to get into the edges you should be fine; as Agile stated; silicon just makes the diaphragm slide out of place; once added; you can pretty much guarantee a headache; keep...

    POWERFLUSH....................worth the money?

@nickso: BG Engineers are not given adequate time to work safely; let alone to do a truly market leader job... So for many a sale is a much easier path... I do not deny that hidden defects will be impossible to pick up upon; especially like that in you example... But what we are getting at here...

    Baxi 105e Problem

At Debaker... I'm concerned that you are employing not just poor quality engineers; but clueless engineers; jasonvaughan is on the right path; I feel you should be looking at water flow paths; not pressures... Ask your engineer to remove the plate heat exchanger and run a tap through the...

    Boiler installation

He must leave the appliance documentation and should leave the logbook which has a benchmark commissioning sheet which he would have needed to fill in within it. The electrics (Where required) should have an electrical safety test certificate as well... But this is only when electrical...

    Wet cold water tank!

I have never heard of a plastic tank developing a leak except on the connections; afterall it's plastic. All I can think of is hole in the roof or that the c/heating is pumping over; causing hot water to poor out of the open vent; creating a bit of steam and a splash which is then soaking your...

    Radiator problems

Are you sure you have the capacity to power 2 extra rads off the 10mm flows? The internal diameter of plastic pipe is smaller; so you have a flow loss there; are the new rads larger than those where you "tapping-off" from? Just a thought that possibly you just don't have enough flow going...

    part diy install

Not to go too off-topic; but would it just be me in thinking that possibly this is how the guy is boosting his money up... Have you priced his "Vokera" at trade against your "Vaillant"?

    "Possible" radiator problem

No problem - Know the feeling well... If he has a new boiler which has an integral filling loop; you may need a special key which would have been supplied with the boiler, but I know most don't stay with the boiler if you get my drift; so check before draining otherwise you might leave him with...

    Horizontal? Flow-sensor sought....

All I can think of at the moment is something like the Vaillant AquaSensor; but the connections on that aren't really suitable for anything except fitting inside a Vaillant :? Will have a think though.

just installed an rf stat, a couple of questions

0800 -> 21 deg 1000 -> 10 deg 1700 -> 21 deg 2200 -> 10 deg The stat never actually turns the boiler off; experiments have shown that keeping a system "ticking over" at a low temperature will keep the building fabric warm; which saves energy as this is the biggest volume to heat up...
