Replacement radiator is colder at bottom than it is at top.

bluey I don't think I have sludge in the system. Water quite clear when i did bucket test, and when the 6 rads were replace, plumber said water was very clear considering age. Don't know if high amounts of fermox helped. If I can get a solidish suggestion then I will do it, but as i...

Hi DP Don't like the sound of connecting a hose pipe. I can't see my hubby going for this. I'll attach the pictures anyway. My husband wants to get someone in to repipe the prob rad in 10mm and get the system cleansed, flushed out. Do you have any ideas on what the problem...

Hi all Have done some tests. Boiler been put to maximum of 9 on DHW and CH. - Pump set to III - 3 litres of water from hot tap (with boiler switched off) in 15 seconds. - Checked gas over 2 minutes (I have a metric metre). HW set to 9, turned on HW on. Boiler fired for 2...

DP - I am a she. Hence, why you have to sometimes make things abit simpler for me. Don't think any man would have a user name as fluff. Also, thank you for explaining the tests. It sometimes helps to know what you are trying to do and how to go about it.

Agile wrote Agile, is this what you referring to on page 10? Is this to check if boiler is modulating. Sorry this is the only info from yourself that I can see which maybe relates? Am I just putting DHW to maximum and putting hot tap on full at bath? Fluff

Had to resort to a snickers to read posts. My head is nipping. right, checking the gas. I think I have an old meter. 1. Do I check for one revolution and time it as it says in ChrisR's FAQ? This will show me the length of time it takes to burn gas or do I do it for 15 mins. 2...

Replacement radiator is colder at bottom than it is at top.

Morning all Agile - the original pump was at max, reported this before when DH asked me to check it. There is now a new pump fitted by it has no indicator of where it is set other than the screw. I orginally tried balancing system. Since then, I have had to open the 2x bedroom and hall...

Tamz I don't think the balancing has too much relevance at the moment. Althought I balanced quite rigidly earlier in the year, since then I have been moving it around in the last couple of weeks as after the new pump was fitted a couple of the upstairs rads were not heating fully to the...

Bluey831, FYI I have contacted 4 local plumbers. 3 plumbers want to do a powerflush on microbore ranging from £400 - £500, without even looking at the system or being interested in what I have done to date. 1 plumber thinks pipework is ok and thinks we need a new boiler because the heat...

I am in Perth. It would be great if I could get someone on here who knows how to diagnose to fix the problem. Better than the locals fixes. thanks fluff

Anybody Should I phone Homeserve and tell them that I do not want them to look at the diverter valve? I am scared that I may get billed for wasting their time if this is not broken. I thought opening the tap proved something but possibly not if the valve isn't passing. Biggest problem...

Right ChrisR, think I understand how the heating up works. Left picture is the CH, hot water comes from heat exchanger, down the red pipe, diverter valve should send all the water down the CH flow pipe. Right picture is the DHW, hot water comes down the red pipe, diverter valve switches...

Chris, will try to comprehend your post in a minute. DP - ran the bath tap full. The red pipe heated to 65.9 and the pink pipe heated to 49.7. This is with the DHW stat at no.7 on the boiler as well. Don't have a probe for checking water temperature, only have a surface probe. However...

DP, you have misread my findings. Boiler fired first time for 16 mins. After 16 mins the return was 40.5. Think you were possibly reading the return reading after 7 mins running? I measured the return temperature improving over the initial 16 mins firing to prove an increase in the...

ok DP, before I start, what do you mean by taking temperature of cold and hot water? Do you mean take the temp of the red and pink pipes before the boiler starts up then after the hot water kicks in? Want to get this right first time.

no, the dark pipe didn't help but the picture did. and the pipe is 133 not 130, no wonder I couldn't find it on your diagram. Found the pipe, coming out of the heat exchanger. After 10 minutes, this pipe was 27.9, the return pipe underneath the boiler was 27.9. hope this helps. fluff

DP - just reread you question earlier on re the temperature on the pink pipe. I was reading 41.5 on the pink pipe. It was the surface temperature on the heat exchanger which read 42.4. Sorry, trying to multi-task earlier on and didn't work. Also, just re-read your post from last night. I...

Sorry chris, can't see pipe 130 (must be blind) I attached picture of my boiler. Where about is it? I checked the flow pipe (the big one to the left of the pump) and the return (pipe you can just see above the pump and towards the back of it). For the temperatures I did last night, I checked...
