    Weather Compensating Settings

I have been reading up on curves, how do you determine the best curve for your house. So a modern well insulated house with new condensation boiler?

    Weather Compensating Settings

Thank you. That's what I have been doing over the last 4 months. So if the outside temp is 0C I would set flow to 54C, for 10C outside I have been setting the flow to 48C. But as temperatures rise I needed some input on the next step, say 15C outside. There must be a point in setting the...

    Weather Compensating Settings

Thank you for the info. Do you have the flow temperature for an outside temperature of 15 degrees.

    Weather Compensating Settings

Hi I understand that weather compensating heating controls adjust the boiler flow temperature as a result of the outside temperature (in its simplistic form). Therefore I would like to know what the set flow temperatures are for various outside temperatures. My house is well...

Most Efficient Way to Run a Condensing Central Heating

Any opinions from those in know regarding the following: Are these modern condensing boilers designer to have the burners running for long/continuous periods time?

Most Efficient Way to Run a Condensing Central Heating

I wondered if there was any advice on the most efficient way to run a condensing central heating system. Being at home all day the heating is on for 16 hrs and currently being run at the lowest possible flow temperature setting (adjusted to take account of cold/warm days and nights). I am...

Setting Up Auotamtic Bypass Valve and Pump Curves

Probable my inaccurate use of terms. However, I use 4 units of gas a day (the gas meter reads a difference of 4 a day), which I understand to be 4 * 31 = 124 KW used.

Setting Up Auotamtic Bypass Valve and Pump Curves

Hi Room temperature falls to 18 degrees overnight with an outside of 5 C, with a heat up time to 20 C in 1 hour. D40 and D 41 measured throughout the heating cycle. Room temperature falls to 17 degrees overnight with an outside of 0 C, with a heat up time to 20 C in 90 mins. D40 and D 41...

Setting Up Auotamtic Bypass Valve and Pump Curves

Yes these are flow and return temperatures. 60 C was the set temperature on the boiler dial. What are d.05 and d.71 D5 = set value of the boiler dial i.e 60 C. D71 = not available through the menu.

Setting Up Auotamtic Bypass Valve and Pump Curves

No not fully yet, I have the same settings as those on the previous boiler, all the the rads are getting hot except one, which is not an issue as there are 3 x 1600 watt radiators in the room. Not tried that setting, I guess I would be worried that it would not open at that setting...

Setting Up Auotamtic Bypass Valve and Pump Curves

Hi The flow temperatures for the 18 C differential were 60 C and 42 C. Based on previous comments the pump is now in constant mode. The ABV is currently set to 0.3, and I am fairly certain that its closed. Just to confirm, with the boiler set to 25Kw does that not mean that the...

Setting Up Auotamtic Bypass Valve and Pump Curves

Been doing some setting up and wanted to check my settings. Pump speed set to: 40 Watts 4.4 M Head and from the curves 1.5m3/h Boiler set to 25KW. (23KW Radiators and 2KW DHW) I have recalculated my radiators to 23KW (didn't notice the difference between type 21 and 22. The boiler...

Setting Up Auotamtic Bypass Valve and Pump Curves

Just to say thanks for all your help. I now have the information about the system and to balance the system.

Setting Up Auotamtic Bypass Valve and Pump Curves

Thanks for that. So a differential of 12 C is fine across the system, with the boiler in modulation mode, as long as all the rads have 12 C, right? What's the best way/procedure for me to balance the system? I am aware that the return to boiler must be below 54C such that condensation...

Setting Up Auotamtic Bypass Valve and Pump Curves

I think I have just had a light bulb moment, based on my now understanding of the mathematics. With old boilers their heat output was constant, so the temperature differential across the boiler was always the same. However, with a condensation boiler once the boiler goes into modulation...

Setting Up Auotamtic Bypass Valve and Pump Curves

Thank you for the flow rate stuff. So is this right? Boiler running on min power and 10 C differential = 5.7Kw/4.18x10 = 490 litre/hr So this means the boiler is running outside the minimum specified flow rate, manf quotes 1200 litre/hr

Setting Up Auotamtic Bypass Valve and Pump Curves

Thank you, your explanation of pump curves helps my understanding. I looked them up on line based on size installed. How did you arrive at this, sorry if I am missing something?

Setting Up Auotamtic Bypass Valve and Pump Curves

It's not Sandbanks and for the last 2 weeks the temperature has been sub zero. The upstairs is smaller than the downstairs due to a "walkaround/storage" facility all the way around the outside. Re the following, anyone help? Referring back to my opening post, how can you tell from the...
