the fault might only show on HW as fan is working harder! If it is easy enough to take flue apart i would make sure that all seals are correct! and check instructions to make sure that flue has correct size of restrictor ring! i am not an Alpha expert but as i said i have seen this...

1st thing i would look at on ur boiler is fan/flue.

is it dropping out on the APS? if it is fairly new make sure the flue is 100% been to loads of new installs that drop out the APS because flue seals have been incorrectly pushed together

To check fan you would need to break chamber seals, so if ur not corgi i wouldnt! Does the boiler not even try to fire on HW?

Are you sure it isnt a blocked drain? Seen that before and the whole void underneath house had about 3foot of water.(dunno how people in house didnt smell it)

Thermistor wouldnt stop it from lighting. if it was thermistor it would light up then shut off. Possible fault on that boiler is fan which i have had before - heatin worked fine but fan wouldn't go to full speed when calling for hot water.

Sounds like ur CH 2port valve is stickin open. u need full new one

If are are sayin you feeder tank is full of sludge - when you drain heating down all that sludge is just going to clogg up your 10mm pipe! If i were you i wouldnt bother flushing it out but eventually you prob will need a power flush.

a quick test - this would let you get an idea of how good ur pressure is place ur hand under the tap sealing the hole where water comes out, if you are able to stop the water without getting spray everywhere then ur pressure is poor , if u find it hard to stop water spraying everywhere...

Is ur burner shutting down intermitantly when you are running HW? Or does burner stay on ? Possible cause is CH sensor (more than likely if older model with WET sensor)

you can buy blank caps for 4inch pipe, is it not possible just to put rumble bag tied over the open pipe?( if it is just to stop the smell) u would need blanks if water would be flowing past the open ends

Remember the if its the fan mod - Boiler only shuts ON/OFF on CH If it works fine on HW prob not fan mob pcb

How big is ur house? how many rads ? would u be able to run pipes staight from boiler through all floors? how many HW draw off points? where u puttin boiler?
