Tile, Paint or Paper bathroom ?

In answer to your questions as for tiling around the window I'd personally paint but tiling is also an option. As for the existing paint on the walls I'd scrap off the loose paint, sand over with some 80 grit and then PVA it! Once dry give it a miscoat of bathroom paint and then fill any...

    Vaillant combi

Well when i bled the rads i did recheck the pressure. I guess by your term repressurising the system you mean topping up the water??? As for the link ChrisR i didn't see that one when i searched but thats far too advanced for me to try and sort out for myself. Computers yes, boilers no...lol...

    Vaillant combi

Right I've got a Vaillant combi boiler serial VCW-GB 242EH/WCW-GB 282EH. I've been in the house 3 years now and not a problem until last week. We have B.G homecare the the last annual service was done in November. Engineer said all was ok etc. The boiler itself is over 10 years old but have been...

    Paint marks

Aye i agree some of Leyland paints are good but I'd rather use Johnstones over Leyland plus with D.I.Y stores now doing Dulux Trade paint at very good prices why would you want to use cheaper paint??? You get what you pay for.

    Plastering in bathroom

I thought you only did that if the walls were prone to slight damp problems. Never heard of using render in a bathroom. My bathroom is plastered, apart from the bit i need to do.

    Plastering in bathroom

Damp - on freshly plastered painted over wall

Best thing to do is scrap off the damp area and leave it to fully dry before applying fresh paint. If you dont want to see bare patches of plaster then apply some Dulux Supermatt emusion as will allow the wall to dry out and it doesn't contain vinyl which traps moisture behind it.

    Painting on newly skimed wall

Miscoat is just another name for thined down emulsion with some water to use basically as a primer, like you do with new wood. Was the plaster actually fully dry? If it wasn't then Supermatt emulsion would have been the best thing to use as a mist coat as it doesn't contain any vinyl and...

    Paint marks

Strange one that! Usually when rolling up to where you have cut in with a brush you do see a slight difference but mainly in texture and nothing really noticable unless you used a crap brush. What was behind the linning paper before hand, as in colour? Was it dark or light finish? Sometimes...

    Plastering in bathroom

I've recently re-fitted my bathroom and to my horror where the cast iron bath used to be there was no plaster on the wall, just bare brick. Question is what is the best plaster to use? I've also fitted a new shower but i dont see moisture as a problem as the bathroom is well vented. Do i use...

    Eggshell works well on rads!

    textured paint

Sounds more like artex then paint. But anyway you have 2 options either do it the hard way and powersand it down and fill over once sanded or get the walls skimmed with plaster.

    Painting jobs

As for painting over dulux satinwood with F&B eggshell 2 coats over white should be sufficeint. With eggshells they dont really require an undercoat unless you've had to do some serious prep on the woodwork like filling etc. As for the emulsion again depending on what your new colour is...

    Recommended ceiling paint please

Well the only thing that I can suggest is rake out the cracks, then fill, then place some jointing tape over the filled cracks then fill over the tape. I've never heard of any flexible paint for ceilings. If the plasterboard has any movement it will only crack again!

    Dulux Weathershield

Well the primer is easy, its just like water but coloured blue. Goes on ok but why they made it blue i dont know. Undercoat is a bit thicker than normal undercoat. Again goes on quite easy but tends to get a skin on it warm days if not stired frequently. Gloss, again slightly thicker than...

Problem using gloss outside in warm weather

Spice What make of gloss were you using? I beg to differ about gloss going thicker in the heat. But different makes have more or less driers in it. I've used all makes of paint and when it comes to gloss there's only one that i use and thats Dulux. When warm dulux goes thin but other paints i...

    Gas pipe outside of building

Well I've had the National Grid out to check this pipe and good news. I can still go ahead and concrete over it but he said the same that i thought of and that was to cover the pipe with a piece of soilpipe and basically put a top on it so that if they needed to get to it they can. But he said...
