Easifill or call in a plasterer?

Thanks everyone, It's only the thickness of the skim I've removed, so about 2mm - will I get 2 coats of filler in there? I have a plastering trowel, so best use that to keep the filler flush? Ive done loads of filling in the past, but never really to repair stuff like this. I always hear how...

Easifill or call in a plasterer?

9 years ago we removed a fireplace (Between 2 rooms), and had the space blocked up, with concrete blocks on wall starters. The whole wall was re-plastered each side. The original walls had s&c as a base, the new section was Hardwalled. 4" scrim was used where they met. One side had a...

    Volume of a 25kg bag

Which volume should they put? As bagged, compacted, once the required amount of water is added, once its set? It's on the purchaser to dictate the end volume dependant on the intended usage. Plaster tells you the area it will cover at a given thickness, based on the amount of water being...

    Avoid cheap vacuum bags!

Half price per bag (50p). Some non-original stuff is fine or even better than original, but this was not a winning one.

    Avoid cheap vacuum bags!

Minor disaster, but a caution for others.... I've had my trusty Numatic (Big Henry) vacuum for about 9 years. Last year I found online some much cheaper bags, that claimed to be the same spec. as the genuine ones - the genuine had been getting a lot more expensive. I used a few of these new...

Asbestos cement roof - specialist clothing needed?

If the sheets come off complete, they are exceptionally low risk. I suited and masked up to do mine, but just crawled on it and undid all the screws. The panels just slid out with only 1 crack on the corner of one. I cleared the double length garage roof in 2 hours on my own, then double...

    Self-leveller disaster

Yes I will be getting a floor layer in for this now - they are used to laying over it so know it needs to be good. Im hoping a couple of mm higher wont be noticeable.

Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt - poor choice for ceiling?

I cannot feel anything, just see it so I guess it's minor Thats what I hoped to hear to be honest - it's not all my fault :) I did also slightly thin it, but was worried having read excessive water can interfere with the vinyl, again causing the issues I have!

    Self-leveller disaster

Good evening all, A plasterer 'helped me out' with self levelling a floor a few days ago (Having plastered the room very well). The result is far from great, with it being about the right level in some places, but down to 4mm shallow in many other places. The whole thing needed about 5mm over...

Dulux Trade Vinyl Matt - poor choice for ceiling?

I got a special value 7.5l tub of this paint last week. I have used it on a ceiling, and in certain lights you can see every roller line. They cant be felt on the ceiling, and when the light isn't hitting it the job looks decent. Have I picked a bad paint for this? Should I have used...

    Cooker cable?

There is absolutely no issue with using 4mm T+E. Unless you move your oven out every other week to clean it, of course.

    Beam and block detail suggestions

We did ours much like your first illustration. Of course until the building is rendered, water will track along the beam in either case. Looking end on at the beams, I found using concrete bricks with a generous bed of mortar filled the gaps between the block work below and the floor blocks...

    Maintainance Free Junctions

I prefer these, as it's all in one: https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/ASJ803.html (Say Ashley, but Hager ones are absolutely identical) They also do a 4-terminal one, useful for extending 2-way lighting.

1.5mm T&E cheaper by the metre

Thoughts on PX Cables? That's what all 3 trade outlets in Jersey now stock... when mentioning TLC to them, they immediately say it's far better, and TLC cable may not even meet required standards (TLC 8 years ago sold Prysmian, but apparently their own brand these days).
