how much heat does a cylinder hold?

Why would i buy a heatstore? Do they have some magical properties that a normal cylinder does not have? That might explain why they cost so much, i believe wizards are on £70k a year... Might retrain...

how much heat does a cylinder hold?

I'll try. I want to use the cylinder as a thermal store so I need to know how much heat is stored within it. That is, will it hold enough heat to keep a small building warm on economy electicity tarrifs without needing back up. Heat load of building will be around 10kw. Water holds around...

    Mad Idea?

I been looking at thermal stores running on electric cos that is the only option available. Tey are fookin expensive. So my thinking is why can't I just get a massive cylinder insulate it to buggery, and have twin high recovery coils in it and use them in reverse to take heat from the...

any one used a freeze master?

Do it for the time specified. Look for frost on the outside of pipe. Clench your arse cheeks and cut. Keep some speedfit s/ends in your pocket. Time will build experience. Large dia pipes take a loooong time.

Making my own thermal store using ecenomy 7!

Think me pa was born in a coal cellar during a bombing raid in 1943, so it rules Viessman out too ;). Done some back of fag packet heatloss calcs and I reckon the ch loading is 10 to 11 Kw. Given two (mains) power showers running full pelt for eight minutes a day, I reckon that 250 to 300 of...

    Corgi registration

I know, I know. But he's an old embittered plumber, (and all too soon you will be too, instead of a young embittered plumber ;) ) I had visions of him sat there in his hovel heated only by a single-pipe 2" gravity system using injector T's, clutching his 24" stilsons tightly to his bosom as he...

Making my own thermal store using ecenomy 7!

Cheers lads, was just running the idea past you to see if it was feasable. i will work on some figures per requirements / heatlosses. As for the heatpump, he's not keen on the capital outlay, plus doesnt trust owt thats not solid state. IE post 1968 ;)

Making my own thermal store using ecenomy 7!

I've a bit of a project to do for me dear old pa. He's renovating an old wooden cabin in the wilds of derbyshire and there's no mains water or gas. there is electric, and i spent this week overseeing the drilling of a borehole (£17k  ) . So we got electric 240 100 amp, and 6000 Gallons...
