So i've installed a new outdoor socket!

If you want to use flex then use it. There is nothing particularly wrong about using flex for this job you are doing.

    Nasty cheapo transformer

Agreed. We have three transformers altogether and the other two, whilst also air cooled with a similar design, are just miles apart on quality.

    Nasty cheapo transformer

I wasn't asking about the insulation issue I was asking if anybody had come across the make of transformer before. hence why I didn't post any photos of the parts in question. WPD say and we act upon their recommendations. We don't question their findings on an annual service visit unless it's...

So i've installed a new outdoor socket!

How did you connect to the original socket in the utility room? You say the cable is visible on the inside so did you have to cut a hole in the side of a surface mounted pattress box or is it plugged into a socket?

Am I on shared water supply?

Megaflow recommended a minimum of 20 litres litres per minute and 1.5 bar mains incoming pressure. They don't stipulate static or open pipe pressure. It will still work at less than 20 litres per minute and less than 1.5 bar. It's physics. You just won't get the performance that the unit is...

Am I on shared water supply?

The expansion vessel will likely be for your central heating. It's impossible to say what you will need to do. A plumber would be best to come and have a look and to say what's the best way to achieve what you need

    dual appliance wiring

Hard wired just means not on a removable plug so there will still be flex.

    Nasty cheapo transformer

Anybody come across one of these "Franco Transfo" transformers before? Horrible nasty thing to say the least. Had to install some extra insulation on the secondary winding connections today (other side of transformer to the picture) as they were deemed to be unsafe by western power. The way...

    External Power Socket

Simple answer is - it doesn't say that anywhere! As is done to death on here, it doesn't actually stipulate in any circumstance apart from an unfused spur, so through an FCU the only limiting factor is the load, cable and of course the obligatory diversity calc. FAO Winston

Am I on shared water supply?

17 lpm isn't exactly low flow for a domestic supply.... The reason some people won't install if the pressure and flow figures are less than what the manufacturer recommends is not because it won't work, it's because they don't want phone calls when the job is done saying it's not working...

Am I on shared water supply?

Basically to cut a long explanation short, an unvented cylinder will flow 17 litres per min at 3.1 bar on your mains supply. So whatever the flow and pressure is like from your cold taps now then that is what your hot taps will be like on the unvented cylinder. The mains flow and pressure drives...

Am I on shared water supply?

More than plenty for an unvented cylinder. radiators don't even come into it since the radiator water circuit is a closed loop and not fed directly off the incoming mains water pressure. An unvented cylinder will work at any mains pressure. How well or how in line with your expectations is the...

Am I on shared water supply?

It doesn't suggest that no. 17 litres per minute flow is adequate. What is your water pressure? Are you having any problems with anything water related?

Option 3 would be ok if the socket was changed to a FCU

    Found this at home today!

The whole point of the schemes is to (apparently) ensure that work is done correctly and safely - by having somebody who is competent do the work for you. What some of these electricians are doing and there is another post on here which shows another bodge job which has been ignored by those in...

are these electrics compliant with part P?

Just don't pay for the work....simple and guaranteed to get a result. Edit: just seen you've already paid. Never ever pay upfront for anything and certainly never ever pay the majority of it off before works have been competed correctly. Any contractor who won't work without payment upfront or...
