Thomsons one coat seal drying time?

Not read the online data sheet, I will look at this. I was just going off what was on the side of the tin. I think the problem is, that I'm laying it on thicker than the 1mm. Also, covering it up isn't possible unless I can make it totally water-tight. It's a 'very' flat roof and puddles...

Building a stud wall - how hard can it be - help!!

Always place noggins to suit board edges. Edges of plasterboard everywhere should be supported. You can obviously have them placed as one noggin to overlap two board edges. I tend to always fit boards vertically as well.

    Sealant tube holder ideas?

Yeah, you're right. It was just something that I came across and couldn't believe the price! I guess that they don't sell many and add a mark-up. Saw the same thing on AliExpress for £15.00

Thomsons one coat seal drying time?

How long should a 'thicker than 1mm' coat of Thomsons one-coat take to dry, before being safe for rain? I applied according to the instructions; "can be applied to moist surfaces" and "is rain-proof immediately". However, what I didn't appreciate was; "ponded water should not be allowed to stand...

    Sealant tube holder ideas?

Can anyone point me in the direction of a bag or holder for sealant tubes? I currently use a bag but it's not very successful as they fall about and the nozzles get bent. Something that I just grab and stick in the back of the car. I've seen many online but they all seem to be a fixed type, for...

Advice for new boiler in 3rd floor flat - scaffolding really needed?

Unless you're doing it yourself, you really are bound by whatever your local installers will do. I would have thought that it could be done, assuming like for like, with access reaching out of the window. But then I am not a boiler installer :-)

Replace sensor heads on Twinflex Pro2

My system is now 10yrs old and I am informed that the sensors heads should be replaced. The original installer company no longer exists and the co that I use for the annual testing has quoted me ~£1k for 10no. units. I have seen them available for ~£30 each and so no idea where they get their...

    UPVC Door and Frame Installation

Yes a DIYer could do it. I've done one. If you're asking then I'd suggest probably not and you'd be best to get a trades-person in. They know what they're doing without all of the research plus, would have the tools to hand, could probably get hold of materials cheaper than a DIYer and more...

Door frame leaking via drainage holes

It may be that join at fault although never come across that before. I see no reason why you can't run some sealant along it. You may find it is just the sheer quantity if rainwater being too much for the drainage holes and overflowing inwards. Due to door seals, door adjustment leaking of the...

Door frame leaking via drainage holes

You sometimes find that people run sealant along the base of the door, not realising that they are blocking the drainage outlet. to the OP, Can you post a pic of the outside face inc cill / step.

Door frame leaking via drainage holes

Is the blue circle shown in the pic, internal? It's just that it looks like an external step. With regards water not fully exiting through the holes, you may find that they are blocked. You can try poking a wire or pipe-cleaner in from both inside and out. Be careful not to get it stuck. Or, get...

    leaking overflow drain in tub

I assume you have something like this? See the screw-thread at the back of the fitting. You may be lucky in that the pipe and all pieces are still attached and the fitting has simply come loose and slid to the side. Slide the silver bit, with the black rubber grommet, to the side until centred...

    leaking overflow drain in tub

Unless someone says otherwise, I feel the only option is to remove the tiles to access. Normally, the overflow has a connection to the bath, with rubber grommet / washer and held in place by the plastic / metal part bath-side, screwed on to it. Failing this, perhaps remove part of the ceiling below?

    Brick wall weight

What size tv is that? No idea what design your mounting brackets are but personally, I would construct a secondary frame ie having multiple fixings over a larger area and then mount it off of that. Maybe build a 3x2 stud frame / false wall? If you end up boarding the frame then obvs affix the tv...

    leaking overflow drain in tub

Can you not remove the bath panel? Access to pipework, waste, taps and overflow etc is all usually done from underneath after taking the side panel off.
