    Which hard drive?

This is what I was thinking. If I go for Toshiba I'll get an extra 1Tb for my money. If one does die then it's mirrored so no loss and the speed difference is not that great from the WD Reds, probably not noticable for what I'll be using it for. The Seagates are dearer than the Toshiba and not...

    Which hard drive?

But are the Reds worth the extra? I've been looking at some revues and yes, the reds do score well but the Toshiba P300 are not that far behind. Probably not noticable?? I've used Seagate in the past without problems (I can remember when a 20mb hard drive was huge!) but I've read reports that...

    Which hard drive?

Hi All I've got a Zyxel NAS 326. Okay, not the greatest but it was very cheap as the previous owner has gone over to a Synology 4 bay jobbie. I need two hard drives for it. I'm looking at fitting 2 x 2Tb drives, one mirroring the other. Everyone seems to recommend the WD Red series. Are they...

Wiring a patch panel - ethernet cabling

Get yourself a cheap tester. Simple device, two boxes with LEDs. You connect one (via short patch lead) to your socket, the other (again via a short patch lead) to the patch panel. If all LEDs flash in order then the wiring is fine. If a LED doesn't flash the connection to that lead is faulty...

    Why did I not die??

As Dave says above most of us have electric shocks at some time or another. I've had a few at voltages a lot higher than 240 before now. The severity of the shock depends on lots of factors including the path taken through the body to earth, how moist (sweaty) you skin is plus a whole lot more...

Sharp R959SLMAA combination oven dead or not?

It looks like a V3 micro switch. Available from any good parts suppliers such as RS or Maplin (spit!!). The 16(3)A normally refers to the max current either resistive (16A) or inductive (3A) at 250V

    Acorns! loads of 'em!

There's a lot of oaks where I walk my dog and yes, there does seem to be a lot more this year than last. Totaly confuses my springer. He's bouncing around looking for them as they fall. I'm in S.Wales.

Hoover Fridge Freezer - 14 months old, completely stopped working

Does it have an internal fuse? The plug fuse is just there to protect the cable. My own fridge/freezer has another fuse at the connector block where the cable enters the casing (back bottom corner). Not the same make/model as yours but worth a look.

    Indesit widl126 flashes

An update. After a bit of a search on the net I found loads of error codes but none matched what I had. Finally I found the same flashes that I had and it stated that the main module was dead. With nothing to loose I took it out and took a look. One of the caps was bulging so a quick 24 mile...
