Interesting. I must admit, presumably some practical training would also be wise

Can anyone do the G3 course, you don't have to be gas safe registered first?

    Unvented investigating

I obviously meant installed the electrical side but yes my bad. Aye, over the years plumbers leaving stuff leaking and badly installed has driven me nuts. Of course it's even harder for me these days to to watch bad stuff happening when I know right/wrong ways. I've a great one here for you...

    Unvented investigating

The Ariston cylinder was supplied by a gas safe plumber I used to use who I knew quite well (now lives and works in NZ). He had installed a full gas CH system for me just prior. It wasn’t bought on price. If it were a known poor choice I’d have bought a better one. As a landlord you want...

Thanks for the informative info. From what you’ve said I guess getting an element too is probably pointless (even if the element needs to come out regarding clearance issue). Do you agree or think not a bad plan to get an element/anode too?

Yes, I felt myself it probably could’ve been reset. To be fair to him the little pin to reset it is pretty well hidden. He thought there wasn’t one on it prior to pulling it out. I assume then that it might’ve worked ok again if reset, or is it more likely something was wrong, maybe with the...

    Unvented investigating

Thanks The electrical side seems ok as in power wise. Erring towards a new element too. I assume it along with new thermostat will sort things ok. Not asking this re doing it myself, but does it sound feasible the whole element would come out with the limited space more easily than the...

    Unvented investigating

Thanks for replies. It’s a flat I rent out so I don’t know if the hot water went overly hot. The thermostat is very long, when electrician went to remove it this morning he could only do it by bending it while sliding it out. A new one wouldn’t go in without bending it an awful lot. The...

    Unvented investigating

Why does my post prove I shouldn’t be anywhere near it? I’ve a pretty fair understanding of it. To be frank so often I’ve had to keep an eye on what supposed “plumbers” are doing, to a great extent I trust myself more in taking my time and taking care with plumbing jobs. The electrician that...

    Unvented investigating

Ariston Aquabravo ITD unvented. 5 yrs old. The lower element wasn’t heating so had the spark who installed it all investigate today. He thought the ‘stat was daffy ducked but actually it had tripped out. Says element testing ok. We kinda knackered ‘stat removing it due to lack of access space...

Anyone recently bought good loo to use with saniflo?

Took the time to post today with the intention of helping others (anyone who may be on the look out for a pan that works well with a macerator) so I find the comedy a bit misjudged, particularly from regular contributors who should understand good intentions. Never mind. I'm glad if my post gave...

Anyone recently bought good loo to use with saniflo?

Just to update incase of interest to anyone else. I did do a LOT of looking at what might suit well to use with a macerator and this new B&Q “teesta” is a good one I’d have probably preferred a known make but it’s a rimless with soft close seat at £125 so not much to complain about. It is ideal...

Advice on painting over dark wood stain

I hadn’t noticed one was two part, thx for heads up there! I was still thinking of sanding tbh. I suspect like the OP, with all woodwork in mind sanding back to bare wood definitely isn’t likely to happen. Using something like these paints do seem like they’re probably a good idea. I’m a...

Advice on painting over dark wood stain

Thanks for reply above opps. This sounds very decent https://www.duluxdecoratorcentre.co.uk/dulux-trade-ultra-grip-primer Surely a good bet. Quite amazing their claims of it sticking to tiles, glass, powder coating.. Edit: I see this too, obviously similar...

Advice on painting over dark wood stain

Ah, yes I remember sanding water based and it clogging. I know it’s difficult without seeing testing. I guess myself and the OP probably do need to try one or two sanding methods. Re paint, any primer/undercoat recommendations? Something that grips well? I want an eggshell finish. I’ve a bad...

Advice on painting over dark wood stain

Bizarrely, I was literally about to ask exactly the same thing. My house has varnished wood in a mid brown hue. Some of it I’ve varnished myself (mainly round windows) with Ronseal water based satin but 80% of it is an unknown stain/varnish. Does this sound like a plan to key up the current...

Anyone recently bought good loo to use with saniflo?

Don’t talk to me about Wickes ones, just lugged one home only to discover a vertical line on the diagram was actually the back of the pan when I thought it was a dimension marking. Also tbh the pan was right wobbly on 18mm ply floor so not great.

Anyone recently bought good loo to use with saniflo?

Good to know. Thanks for your help on it. I’ll give keeping the Tempo pan another bit consideration before changing it. It is one with good clearance under cistern

Anyone recently bought good loo to use with saniflo?

Thanks I’ll take a look. Tbh though the problem was needing an extension but it needing to be so short the saniflo rubber connection was almost too long. Tricky to describe but as I said, awkward!

Anyone recently bought good loo to use with saniflo?

Yes I was thinking that might be a decent plan but also maybe avoidable. I did actually see tiling it as a good idea too. Suggestion appreciated though. The ideal standard Tempo (pic) was good but there ended up a very short extension required which would’ve firstly needed fixed on the pan...
