Hey gang, for those of you that are sparkies/plumbers/brickies etc that started as an apprentice, how and when did you start out on your own? Did you slowly build up your basic tools and just start by doing jobs for friends and family and it build from there? I suppose you'd have to be...

*UPDATE* Took advice given on here and swapped pump, problem was still present, added some inhibitor and balanced the system, this sorted out most of the rads, only 2 remaind cold. I think the valves are knackered on these anyway. Thanks for all your replies :)

Just had a call from the guy with the problem, apparantley none of the rads are getting warm now, not even the upstairs ones as before, could this be the pump as opposed to sludge?

Couldn't see one, system isn't mega old.

Not microbore, its in 15mm. There was some heat in the pipes and the valves, but that was it, no heat in the rads themselves.

Should have said, tried that already, but no joy.

I checked the valve, that seemed to be functioning ok, i bled the pump, water did come out, it was rather mucky coloured though.

So you definately think it's a slude related problem then?

Oh right, ta, so a potential powerflush?

Hi guys, y plan open vented system, rads upstairs are getting hot but downstairs are all cold. I've checked the pump, this seems to be fine. Any ideas what the cause could be? Thanks

Hi all, how much would be the going rate to charge for changing a siphon in a toilet cistern? Would you wait and see how long it took and base it on an hourly rate (if so, what?). Or would you charge a fixed amount?

Are you replacing a programmer? If so, what was the old one? Do you have a pic you can post of the back of the new programmer? Is it not numbered in anyway?
