Got a call at the end of the day to look at a leaking SD F30. I have installed some of these a good while back (on contract) but never been out on a repair (until now). Found the leak, it was on the plastic (and boy, theres alot of plastic in these) three way valve just above the hot water...

You not suggesting the OP 'bridges' the stat out.....what if s/he does this but doesnt bother to get a new o/h stat or further investigate the cause of pilot failure

Thanks for the offer Dave. Scorching was at 12 to 3 o'clock. Those 3 (out of the 5)burner nuts were only finger tight which is why the gasket probably perished. Looks like i'm gonna have to replace the electrode as well. The earth lead was burnt so i'm assuming the gasket there has also gone.

You may have stripped the thread from the plastic. I would replace it but you could try wrapping it with PTFE tape. You shouldn't have to stress any pipe to fit - this will also cause probs and leaks. If the pipe is a bottom entry then why not cut back the copper pipe and replace with a 15mm...

Had a look but cant find it. MI doesn't list the burner seal in the spares section.

Yep you're right - its what caught me out, although most things seem to be feeble on Biasi's :D Only other thing i can think of is a faulty ignition board but that seems highly unlikely seeing as its igniting OK.

I think that the PCB checks both thermistors during the ignition sequence. Thats why the loose connection on the C/H thermistor was giving symptoms just like yours.

I come across similar problems with these Biasi's. Firstly, a 24s that would fire up and then lockout. Like you i though flame sensing fault but it turned out to be a loose connection on the C/H thermistor which completly through me. Yesterday a 28s with the same problem - here we go again i...

Could be the pump. However, the fan on these boilers are a weak spot and it may need a real good clean and lube

good going Hedsa. I changed the valve on one of these 2 days ago and it was a nightmare. Couldn't get the bottom screw out. A liberal amount of silicone grease is a must

Water could be from the AAV when the boiler overheated due to the airlock. Have you tried to reset the O/H stat button yet. Occasionally they can take a while to reset.
