You don't have to counter batten .unless it's a boarded roof . The underlay should be draped not pulled taught . If you can not drape it then you need counter battens . As he knew it was boarded then hard luck on him . To be honest a few counter battens don't cost much and there's a time saving...

100 mm insulated panels are not bad at all. Long ago we were involved in tricky detailing at Heathrow airport.. It was 100mm metal panels It did rain while we were there and I would not say it was noisy. . Un insulated then it will be .

You have cause for complaint . Firstly they should not have interfered with your roof in such away , there are damaged slates refitted. And bonds stretched which is shoddy . Fyi there are double width slates available which they could have used to help here . Old or not they have replaced...
