    Need help understanding aerial sockets!

What may be happening is that the bedroom socket is fed from the male socket in your first picture. In that case, the best way would be to connect the TV socket to the male one with a lead. Now try the TV in the bedroom. If this works, split the signal and run one output to your main set...

    Lost digital access...-HELP needed please

Best general advice, look for a menu button on the set itself (Some universal remotes don't have all the functions of the original). From there, use the arrow keys to navigate to switch the set from analogue back to digital. It sounds like that is the problem in this case. Let us know how you...

    TV no signal

Seems odd. Do your other TVs in the house receive analogue, digital, or both from the aerial - ignoring any Sky or cable boxes? The way you describe snowy channels makes me think it may be picking up analogue signals from the wrong transmitter. I suspect it may be worth going through the...

    TV no signal

Did you have to "scan for channels" when setting up the camera? If so, plug the aerial back in and scan again, and normal service should be resumed :D

Any Sony VCR experts out there?

To be honest, a "wanted" post on your local freecycle group will probably finish up with people giving you more VCRs than you know what to do with, and for free. Failing that, charity shops have lots for around £5 - £10 here, and they should have been tested to make sure they work as well...

GRRRRR!!!! I've got a friggin virus!!!!!!!

I hope you get it sorted out, but it's a really REALLY bad idea to post a link to the site that is invoked when you hit the 'buy' button. I'd very very strongly suggest that you edit the post and remove that, or someone else may be 'caught' with it... Have you tried Avast! and Malware bytes -...

    From Sky to BT Vision

Hi D, The best bet is first of all to make sure that the BT box does in fact output an RF channel. By this I mean, make sure that you can connect it's 'RF out' connection to 'Aerial In' on a near by TV. In analogue mode, scan for channels, and make sure the box is sending a picture. I have a...

Should EDF be supplying household earth for free or fee?

I'm sure a proper sparks will be along with a better answer soon, but my understanding is that if the board supplied an earth previously, they are obliged to maintain it in good order (one assumes without charge, as it is part of their property?). However, if they haven't previously supplied...

    Bad sky reception

Are you using just the one remote eye? It sounds as though your aerial system includes an amplifier, which is passing the DC to power the eye device, but isn't passing the eyes commands back to the sky box. A solution for an older amp when using only one remote eye is to add a DC bypass...

    Missing files!!

I (think!) I can help you get back your recycle bin. If you right click on a blank area of desktop, and choose properties, then go to the Desktop tab and hit the Customise Desktop, there should be options to tick to put things like recycle bin, My Documents, My Computer etc back on the desktop...

Bad sky receptoin on the distribution

68 I think is the default, the left arrow should let you change to another channel. You want one that doesn't have an transmission on, of course. A Google search should turn up which ones are in use. Failing that it'll be trial and error to make sure the TV signal is not interfered with.

Bad sky receptoin on the distribution

Have you tried: -Services - 4 - 0 - 1 - Select then Option 4 for RF outlets. Do these key presses quickly, looking at the remote, not the TV screen (some of the options are not listed, and it's easy to get wrong if watching the TV to try and navigate through). Make sure you are...

Sony Laptop motherboard gone doo dah!

It should be possible to remove the hard disk from the dead machine and connect it to another computer and recover all of your documents. There's lots of info online, or post back here if you need help. Do you want to do this, or get the Sony running again? What is wrong with it (how do you...

I think my aerial might be knackered - thoughts?

Hi Andy, It's odd, as Wickes list 100m of "TV" coax for £29.99, but 100m of satelite cable for £22.49 (!) To be honest, in some locations you would get away with a bit of wet string rather than a cable, but if you are having problems, this is one good place to start looking. It's easy...

I think my aerial might be knackered - thoughts?

Just a thought, while you are installing cables, be sure to use decent quality, double screened stuff. The cable sold as satelite cable should be the stuff to use. Don't buy normal "TV" coax. See here for why... http://www.wrightsaerials.tv/topics/coaxial-cable-screening.shtml This is a...

    42" Acoustic soutions

Do you have any low energy lamps in the room? These can produce signals that the IR detector can interpret as being meant for them (!). When the fault is present, turn off any such lamps, or cover the IR "eye" on the front of the TV, and see if it stops. Let us know what you find.

    Philips LCD blowing fuse

Probably needs a new line filter. If you are sure you are using the supplied mains lead (detachable?) I suggest you do not fit a larger fuse rating. The set has worked previously with a 3 amp fuse fitted, yes? Upping the fuse rating is a good way to start a fire, particularly in an appliance...

    ROVER or OVER

Have to agree with earlier comment on the K series head gasket. My '03 25 had it go at around 55k - not pleased.... Other wise, it's a nice (enough) car, but if you're looking to buy, I honestly suggest choosing something else, with out a known, serious (in relation to the cars value)...

    Help with LG26 L75 please anyone !!

Hi, It sounds as though water has found it's way into the cable at some point and is moving through the insulation by capillary action. This sounds odd, but the way coax cable is constructed means it can happen, the inner insulation effectively is hollow and can carry any water that does...

    Dell dimension 2400

Hi, What can be useful with Dell machines is to run it's service tag through this http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19 This should tell you what hardware the machine was shipped with, and let you download drivers for it too :D The service tag...
