    Garden wiring - I'm confused.....

He asked how you had earthed it, not if you had. I'd also be interested to hear how you earthed the armouring too.

    That doesn't look right....

A good job otherwise things could have become interesting for the re-lamper! Seriously poor though.

    That doesn't look right....

Rough as!! Were the cat2 diffusers earthed via the usual flylead?

    EICR code question

Yes, it wouldn't be a C1 (danger present) unless there's some serious signs of overheating. You could possibly opt for a C2 as potentially dangerous but then again the difference of 2A isn't going to cause that much of an issue considering the length of time a domestic shower is in use...

    EICR code question

As a general question I'd say heat if the MCB is carrying a load above its rating for extended periods of time. It will also depend on how often this happens over time. It'll also go against the intentions of the manufacturer. Obviously if the load it's carrying is high enough then the MCB will...

Wiring two single sockets side by side

If you can afford to lose the single socket then change if for a fused spur, that way, assuming everything else is fine then it'll be compliant. Just re-read. Is it a dual backbox, as in two singles within the same backbox? If so then I think BAS covered the solution.

    part p

They're not competent electricians then. I suggest the OP hires the services of a competent electrician, not a cowboy.

    part p

There's nothing wrong with a DIY'er carrying out the work if they're competent (defined by qualifications and experience), have the required test equipment which can cost in excess of £500 and notify the intended work to Building Control before proceeding which can also around £200. I'd say...

    part p

Employ the services of an electrician who's a member of a competent persons scheme so he can self notify the work and provide you with a minor electrical installation works certificate.

    EICR code question

When carrying out an EICR you're checking for complance with the current regulations. No prior knowledge of previous editions is required. Don't base odings on what could have been acceptable 20 or 30 years ago.

    EICR code question

    Yes.

    EICR code question

But the installation wouldn't be correct according to BS7671 in that case.

    EICR code question

What if there was a lack or or inadequate supplementary bonding? I'd go for a C2 unless supplementary bonding was verified.

Does Neighbour's Cable Running Across Garden Need Armouring?

You need to politely ask them to move it or you'll speak to Building Control regarding the more than likely un-notified and dangerous installation.

    Core Colours

A Google search came up with 'Paper-Insulated Corrugated Aluminium Sheathed'. I wondered too.

Does Neighbour's Cable Running Across Garden Need Armouring?

Quite ironic if the work was carried out by a member of a competent persons scheme!

Does Neighbour's Cable Running Across Garden Need Armouring?

Have they clipped the cable on your side so they can't see it? If not, how does the cable get to your side? In any case, I know what I'd do!

    cable size

Too many variables. Need more information.

    PFC

My Megger 1552 measures PSCC between phases OK. You're correct, it's the PSCC that's doubled (highest of L1-N, L2-N or L3-N), and not PEFC as I wrote.

    PFC

I take it your meter isn't capable of testing PSCC at 415V? If not then yes, PFC will be noted as twice the value of the highest measured PSCC which errs on the side of caution.
