It's a high integrity dual RCD consumer unit. You can have a number of circuits not protected by either RCD, a number of circuits protected by RCD1 and a number of circuits protected by RCD2. I've never used that particular unit so not sure how flexible it is with regards to the number of ways...

    Makita v DeWalt

I've just sold my DeWalt 18V kit and bought a Makita LXT202 kit and superb it is too!

    Cable Capping "Rapid Cap"

Agreed from an electrical POV but we use PVC capping to keep cable in place. T&E clips won't always keep cables in position without falling out, especially on breeze block with soft mortar joints. I've also found that PVC capping looks more 'professional' to customers ( mentioned to us on...

    Cable Capping "Rapid Cap"

Personally I think it'll work out over expensive and will not be a viable option to standard PVC capping, capping nails and long clout nails.

    Capping

Why's that Eric? If you're talking about earthing / bonding then it's neither an exposed (not part of that circuit) or an extraneous conductive part. Am I missing something obvious?

I had an idea why that was in place! :D

Yeah and then they turn up with those awful looking chandelier type fittings that take forever to build up with their dangling false crystals and would still look out of place in a gypsy's caravan!

    What Size...

The 16mm² tails (and 80A supply fuse) wouldn't need upgrading even if the consumer unit was changed, a 10kW shower installed and a 6kW double oven. There's plenty of similar installations up and down the country that run without problem due to the nature of the loadings. Not all appliances are...

    What Size...

16mm² tails are fine with a 80A supply and probably a low maximum demand. Your earthing arrangements sound like TN-S.

    Cheapest chain store selling electrics

A couple of weekends ago B&Q had another 20% off offer on. It worked out quite well for my boss who purchased 1000 MK twin sockets at just under £2 each (+VAT). He got quite a few Wylex loaded twin RCD consumer units too along with plenty of other MK items. 20% off weekends coupled with a trade...

    safe zone between 2 sockets

He says his sockets are same wall, same height and if they're RCD protected then it's simply a case of chasing in a length of cable. At the very most and that's even stretching it there will only be a MWC completed.

    safe zone between 2 sockets

Nothing is being altered as such so based on that, not many electricians would even bother filling in a minor works certificate.

    safe zone between 2 sockets

He would then have a spur off a spur and it's 150mm, not 1500mm. But, I'll let you off because I know what you mean!

    safe zone between 2 sockets

Are the sockets on the same wall and at the same height? Is the circuit protected by an RCD? If the sockets are indeed on the same wall (even adjacent walls) and same height then simply chasing the cable into the wall and covering with PVC capping would be fine though the circuit would...

    Fire rated cable?

It will just produce low levels of smoke and corrosive products when affected by fire so used where smoke hazard will need to be minimised. It won't resist the fire as such.

New ceiling spot, not enuf wire holes!

There's only one way to be certain and that's test for dead with an approved voltage indicator. If you lack that then a multimeter set to V AC should do a similar job.

    Two transformers

Yet I see it on a regular basis, not just by members of forums and the like but directly from manufacturers on their packaging, instructions and specification. How can they get it so wrong?

The 4 brown conductors in the centre terminal will connect into the loose connector block which you have. The blue conductor with brown sleeving will connect into the same terminal as the brown on your light fitting, normally marked as L The 3 blue conductors will connect into the same...
