What type of drain pipe is this? (1)

Yeah they arent in line. The right pipe runs parallel with the house wall, if it was to continue it would hit the soil pipe. The left pipe looks like it is angled away from the wall slightly. It joins the soil pipe about 1m away from the house.

Drainage - can you have 2 bottle gully's next to each other?

Hi guys. I have a brick wall that seperates the back garden from the shared drive way. One side of the wall there is a hopper (see picture attached) that catches the rainwater from the gutter down pipe. The bath, sink and kitchen sink are also fed into this. The drain pipe runs under the wall...

What type of drain pipe is this? (1)

Hi guys. Can anybody identify what type of drain pipe this is please (pic attached)? It is the pipe from the hopper where the gutter down pipe goes. I was expecting to find a clay pipe, but the silver bit on top of the socket looks like a weld so im guessing it is cast iron. The outer...

How to neatly secure a beam to a wall at each end?

Evening all. My sons bedroom is exactly 6ft wide. I want to run a wooden beam from wall to the other, across the entire 6ft width of the bedroom, in order to make a floating bed shelf for him. The other 3 sides will be screwed to the wall. This beam will need to support the slats of the bed...

    Prevent cracking of concrete slab

The original 50mm slab has been there for about 20 years and hasnt cracked yet. Looks like it was poured directly onto the mud too. The only damage was chipping to the surface out the front of the garage.

    Prevent cracking of concrete slab

My garage is built on a concrete slab. I am laying a channel drain out the front of the garage door. Also, the concrete slab in front of the garage was all chipped and damaged. Using my cut off saw to get neat edges and then my pneumatic drill to break up the concrete, i have cut out a section...

Does this count as a soak away?

Ive just read a paper that explains the 5m rule. It says it is actually guidance that first come about when soak aways were more traditional and deeper. It suggests that the 5m guidance can be overcome if it can be shown to BC it wont cause a problem. It also said the shallower solutions do not...

Does this count as a soak away?

Im suggesting having a small trench filled with gravel right in front of the garage door to stop rain water from entering the garage under the door. It is a small area about 3m x 0.5m in size that collects water.

Does this count as a soak away?

At the minute it just pools on the patch of concrete outside the garage door, and the garage floor, and evaporates. As far as i know there would be nothing to stop me ripping up the patch of concrete (50cm x 3m) outside the garage and replacing it with permeable block paving, for all...

Does this count as a soak away?

I dont have the space to fit a soak away and meet regs. In order to connect to the drain id need to rip up a lot of block paving which im trying to avoid.

Does this count as a soak away?

Hi guys, My garage sits right on the edge of the boundary next to the neighbours garage, however it is built below ground level and rain water constantly runs in underneath the door. If i cut/dig a trench through the concrete floor, right at the door, and fill it with gravel to stop the water...

    Soak away distance from outbuildings?

Hi guys, I know building regs state that a soak away must be 5m from buildings, but does this include outbuildings? I have a concrete garage on a 100mm concrete slab. Can a soak away go close to this or is it 5m from this also? Thanks
