    Bamboo

Just wondering, is there much money in bamboo plants? Ive got a huge plant in my back garden (probably around 50-80 shoots, around 2m squared ground cover) over 8ft tall, with new shoots sprouting all the time. Is it worth getting in touch with a local gardener for them to pot some, and sell...

    Orange soup

Haha nice one Something else you might want to think about doing is having 6 small meals during the day, rather than just the normal 2 or 3 large meals, as it helps speed your metabolism up

    quick and easy pond

Ive still not found the cure for this. I have been trying different things recently though, and ive found that adding surface floating plants to the pond has helped hugely. it blocks out some of the sunlight, but also fights the algae / blanket weed for the nutrients, so it slows down the growth...

    quick and easy pond

    1) Yeah clean it all out (dont use any chemicals - unless your local fish shop can advise you on the right ones to use) then carefully powerwash the pond so you dont damage the liner, this will hopefully remove any previous residue - possible fish disease etc 2) Once its all out, fill it with...

    Canon chester gas oven

Hi all. Ive got a canon chester gas oven - model number 10548k mk 3 Whenever i start it up, the flame comes on and occasional lights (not every time) but once lit, it keeps trying to ignite it still (sparker keeps going) and theres no flam control - just a huge flame. Is this most likely...

    Ideal Classic Boiler

Problem solved...there was no water in the central heating system!!! Due to a leak, the people who used to live here turned the supply to the tank in the loft off..so the system wasnt topping itself up. Yup..feeling a bit foolish now!

Order of work - rewire or replumb first - or both?

3 power showers - if used at the same time could put you very close to your maximum allowance. Do they all need to be power showers? and maybe 3 on at the same time could use too much water flow (just guessing here) so the plumber may advise against it - or have to use bigger pipe etc. If they...

    Ideal Classic Boiler

Hi all The CH pump (Grundos 15-50) has been making strange noises for the past couple of months, gurgling when it starts up, then sounding like the valve is fluttering (vibrating high pitched). The other day when i tried to run the hot water, the water ran cold, and the boiler didnt start...

    Registering

The first question was to try to get feedback from people here who are registered with them, as i dont want to sign up with a scheme that arent any good compared to the rest. Ive been on the NAPIT website, but it looks like chunks of it are still in development, so not all of the info is...

    Making good

Didnt have to chase the wall in the end luckily... A bigger problem though is the ring final! There seems to be a break in the earth return from the end socket to the distribution board..but the neutral and live on that cable are fine! Had half the floor up but still cant find the cable...

    Making good

Ok..rather basic question, but new to domestic electrics (industrial is my trade) After chasing out a wall, what do you use to fill it again? Do you only fill it to say 5mm below the surface of the rest of the wall, and then plaster the final bit (once its all dried) or fill to the surface...

    Garage Gym Conversion

Oh and if you use floor tiles, the way i did it was to make sure one row lines up with the door. This way, people will always walk on the same strip of tiles as they enter, rather than walking across 2 rows. So when they get worn out,or really dirty, you only have to replace one row, not two.
