    10.5kW SHOWER

Maybe your heatings turned up too high  On a serious note, there could be a number of issues. Socket outside the toilet? As in a plug socket, or do you mean the power supply to the shower? The cable could be too small, the terminals not screwed up tight enough, etc.

    Drilling under a consumer unit?

Yeah, pop down your local big DIY or wood store, should have a huge range of styles. Might have to get it trimmed down, but they will prob do that there if you ask them

    Drilling under a consumer unit?

How about using a horizontal piece of wood as a backing plate? Longer than the consumer unit, so you dont drill the mounting holes directly under the unit, and then mount the coat hook to that. Decorative bit of wood make a feature out of it, or paint it the same colour as your walls

    Cutting hedges

Cheers for the reply. Trying to get into the gardening side of things, might even start a vegetable plot! I trimmed the hedges and conifers back a bit - read in another post on here that its best to do it before spring, cut back some of the thicker stalks, so when spring comes you get the new...

Hey all. Right, this may sound like a daft question, but cheers in advance for help. when the best time to cut hegdes, tidy up garden plants etc? does time of the year matter too much, so long as theres not frost on the ground etc? Eg, should i go outside now and do it, or leave it as it...

Electric Shower - possible pressure issue

I had a similar problem in my parents house. Even on the coldest setting it was too hot at full power, so i used to turn it to half power. Not sure if its any help - but maybe a temporary solution until you get a new one. The case is probably that the heating element is too big for the water...

    Vague question on pricing

But on the helpful side, get 3 or 4 qoutes for each job. You may find a company that will do both jobs while they are there - saving you a call out fee.

    Vague question on pricing

One of the forum rules states that you cant ask for prices, as theirs too many variables that can come into play with job. The lights for example, the sparky may find a local point to take power from = a short quick job, or may have to run a new cable from the distribution board = a longer...

    WorkShop Project 2007....

Have you got a nice garden? If so, you could fit a double glazed window into that side for the nice view, especially if you are going to be in there a lot. The natural light will be nice to work in too. If the gardens not nice, or its windy all year round so you wouldnt open the window anyway...

    mA/VA ??

Is the question to do with earth leakage? Im thinking volt amp = volt x amp = power so 0.1 ma earth leakage per voltamp aka 0.1ma earth leakage per watt?

    Does this ring true?

Although it would have been nice of him to tell you that before he started work, so you could check your budget, and see if you still wanted the work done!

    Does this ring true?

Most likely yes. A mechanic wouldnt fit a bigger engine to a car if the breaks didnt work properly. A complete re-wire may not be necessary, but if its just the upstairs lighting it shouldnt really take him more than a day. If he doesnt put it right, and he signs it off as safe, and you...

    Cables behind skirting boards

Are you talking about tucking it behind the skirting board, or in the wall behind the skirting board? Either of these is not too clever. If its in the wall behind the skirting board, personally i would put it in earthed metallic conduit no matter what its depth, as theres just too much...
