Anyone know of any lawful impediment...

Of course Kev, just a matter of how much repair. Customer would rather I go a different route, unless of course, I can use part of that old primary!

Anyone know of any lawful impediment...

Kev, If I wasn't able to do the detour or use the old primary I'd have to rip out the panelling that I can see behind, lay the pipe and put it all back how it was. So nothing is different, just having never used an old water pipe for gas thought I'd ask if anyoine could see a problem with it-...

Anyone know of any lawful impediment...

Tgm, its 28mm copper tube with end feed joints, even the 90 is nicely pulled. So what's the difference? A reference will do!

Anyone know of any lawful impediment...

Kev, I'd test it first. If it failed the pressure test I'd carry on and do the detour. If it passes it becomes part of concealed pipework.

Anyone know of any lawful impediment...

Chris thanks, but sadly it turns 90 degrees. I can see it all from both ends but can't get in there to fit a new one. I should be able to loop it with the powerflush to get it clean as possible but I wonder if that would be enough? Don't want any warranty problems.

Anyone know of any lawful impediment...

Every so often someone comes along who sems to have the ability to upset everyone whether intentionally or not. Tgm, it appears to be your turn. I don't want to get into a slanging match-I just can't be doing with it. But if you have an answer to the change of use question then please enlighten me.

Anyone know of any lawful impediment...

Hmm. Assumption is the mother of all f'ups and you all seem to have jumped on the band wagon. I said I couldn't get access, not that I couldn't see the pipe so I'm quite happy with regards to regs thanks. Using part of the old one would save me a detour. I just wanted to check if there is a...

Anyone know of any lawful impediment...

or other reason not to use a pipe that previously held water for gas? ie. Want to convert a 28mm primary to gas as it runs through a place where I can't get access. I've considered the need to pressure test it and probably find a way of cleaning it- anything else?????

Double check valves.....can they restrict flow?

Valves on both hot and cold? Sure they're not pressure reducing valves? What sort of h & c supplies are they?

    Cold Towel Radiator

Doesn't quite fit in with you're explaination but- have you got a straight trv in there? Most straight ones are directional, ie flow must go with the arrow. If on back to front the water just won't go around. Can fox you if you have hot water in your system when you bleed and it goes into the...

Water By-Laws - Is a gravity fed toilet cistern allowed ?

I'm with Bahco. Its definately ok to fit to gravity (did my waters regs exam last week- whoopee!) but the bit that threw me was the 'not allowed to sell bit'- but he has sold you one? Again with Bahco- check the hp restrictor's not in there.

Water By-Laws - Is a gravity fed toilet cistern allowed ?

Doesn't sound right- but what sort of valve have you got in there then? Service valve fully open?

Gas Pipe Within Concrete Floor ?

Absolutely must not have any compression fittings in it. Wrap with the nasty gooey tape that I can't remember the name of off the top of my head. Has to be min 75mm below surface assuming your're not driving over it (again without refering to the book). Best to bed with sand too, but not...

    Installing radiators

I agree gasman, it ought not be 8 hours work- especially for two, but unless you've got another small job to go to ( or its a Saturday morning quickie!) what do you do? Lose half a days money? There's enough time spent on surveying, shopping, courses etc etc etc. If the customer is happy for you...

    Installing radiators

It may not take all day but would you be happy if he walked off to another job after 5 hours if he hasn't finished? Guess not, so he has to allow you a day and charge for it. Finishing early with nothing to do doesn't pay the bills.

    Come on brains!

So the general answer is yes and no? Clear as sludge I'd say- thank heavens for sealed systems! (I'm a Sainsburys man myself).

    Come on brains!

Please don't bite my head off but I blew the dust off of my design guide. It says the feed and vent should come off of a horizontal run where as in this 'H' set up that's obviously not the case. Anyway, having said I'd never seen it done that way what do I find today? Yep, an almost perfect...
