You would be right in addressing the issue raised by ollski in the first reply to your original post, if you have not already done so.

    Cold water tank

WSP = Water Starvation Protection, a water level switch fitted to the cold water storage tank. If the water level falls low, the pump is inhibited until the level has recovered. It protects the pump against running dry.

johnny_t wrote "Which bit of Agile's answer are you questioning ? The fact that the engines don't propel the wheels or the fact that many people can't understand it ?" Neither jonny_t ! I am asking Agile what leads him to believe that "many" contributors to this thread posess the childlike...

    Physics Puzzle

Agile wrote "Its amazing that so many people seemed unable to understand that a planes engines exert thrust and do not rotate the wheels to propell (sic) it forward." How have you come to this conclusion?

    Plumber safely in loft

It's a requirement of BS 6798 2002; although not particularly logical with modern sealed fan flued boilers and rarely if ever done.

    Stop cock versus gate valve.

I don't want to be contentious but have to differ here Agile, gate valves used on water distribution systems are often 16 bar and above and are use for isolation purposes. The stopcock has a construction very similar to that of an ordinary tap ( it seals by a washer being compressed on to a...

    plumber shortage over ...

Agile, I was just pointing out that unequal populations (Brits vs Eastern Europeans ) is bound to deliver disproportionate fault observations and is not therefore necessarily a good measure. I am sure that you have intentionally or subjectively taken account of this when forming your...

    Gas smell

Agile, When you say Transco are meant to repair leaks are you sure that their fitters are trained and qualified to carry out work on appliances and pipework in domestic and commercial premesis ? They will sometimes make a simple repair such as to nip up a compression fitting to help out...

Agile wrote, "During the last three months I have seen more flue installation faults by British CORGIs than the East Europeans." If you were to go to Eastern Europe, I feel sure that you would find the situation reversed.

    mystery valve?

chrishutt, I'm not defending the system, just saying that I believe that was the logic behind it (and as cryodoncorgi says to minimise thermal stress etc.) I remain open to contradiction; I like to learn. Your point re. pump over-run and heat dissipation is well made and is accommodated by...

Query on Glowworm boiler is it safe?

Apologies for the offence caused  . It was not intended. My attempt to express an opinion in too truncated a form and without the benefit of smileythings, was clearly not sucessful. Too much brevity ?

    mystery valve?

chrishutt, I have recovered now, but may be scarred for life. I am sure that you are aware that boiler manufacturers recommended flow/return temperatures and differential. These are different for the old cast iron boilers and the modern condensers for obvious reasons. Generally boiler...

Query on Glowworm boiler is it safe?

"I would have serious doubts about your plumber's ability, even if he is Corgi reg. Firstly, did he explain that to comply with Building Regulations you should have a new condensing boiler fitted? My understand is that an existing boiler can only be relocated if it's a very minor change in...

    mystery valve?

Yes it is a by-pass valve, but in my opinion it has nothing to do with TRVs but was installed to trim the boiler return temperature (although this was seldom done correctly, if at all)
