There is already a fault showing on the panel, I assume that happened when the owner removed the head.

    Fire alarm sensor removal?

No it is not commercial. The premises is a georgian building that was converted into flats many years ago. The head had already been removed prior to my arrival and the wires are exposed. I can mark each wire easily enough and I have taken a couple of photos so I am 100% confident that...

    Fire alarm sensor removal?

I need to remove/replace a fire alarm sensor so I can plasterboard a ceiling. I'll need to poke the red cables through the new board and reconnect the sensor. Can i just go ahead and remove it? It's the red cable red sensor type. The sensors have resistors inside. Thanks. Dan.[/list]

The mortar joints are still quite solid though, they do not crumble easily. Would you still suggest that it could be just a pointing issue?

    Electronic Under-Tile Heating System

The thermostat box has a code that says the sensor is gone so I ordered a new one. When I tested the new one by wiring the new sensor in the heating worked fine again. I just did that to check, I have switched the system off again now. So I'm sure it's the sensor that has broken. Problem...

What is the back bit of a fireplace called?

Thanks Woody. It is indeed the 'fireback' I am trying to describe. Do they come in different sizes? Also I may need to change the lintel and a few bricks for cosmetic purposes. Bricks have to be fire-bricks? And the lintel? I've been searching the net and I've seen and steel...
