    Warm radiator...

see if the lockshield and trv are fully open 1st and then bleed the radiator. Are you the first tennants/owners? Previous tennants may have turned one of the valves down cos they were too hot but it probably just needs bleeding.

    kitchen water supply

sometimes - or in the cellar? it all depends on your house, they are all different. That really is the one stop tap that everyone should know where it is and how to turn it off in an emergency as well as the gas valve.

Baxi Boiler Loud Clicking No CH

Could be one of the newer electronic ignition bermudas. That would be the clicking sound before it fires up. If its not firing up it could be a faulty gas valve?

    Boiler pressure

boiler needs to be at between 1 - 1.5bar. The reason why your upstairs rad isn't getting hot will probably be the reason why the boiler pressure is so low i.e. no water in it. BUT you won't be able to bleed it until you re-pressurise the system. Are there any damp patches on the ceiling...

    Baxi Bermuda problem

The grey button may have stuck in originally as it was newer then but it should pop out after you let go of it. In fact i've been taught that you should pull the grey button out the last remaining 1/2" or so AFTER you've got the pilot lit? Not 100 percent sure of that one cos the boiler will...

Upstairs Radiators hot, downstairs warm & noisy system

Also, don't pay BGs prices for powerflushing if it needs doing. Go into any plumbers merchants and there will be a notice posted on the wall of someone locally doing it for half that price.

    Vokera 24 Linea - DHW

Ask 'Nickso' or alternatively read page 34 of the Linea 24 manual. I've seen this changed and it cure this same problem (whilst training) and as its the cheapest option is usually the first one applied before changing the heat exchanger. The sensor senses the temperature of the water and...

    Alpha cd28

So, do you work for yourself then or for alpha? The reason i am asking is cos we have a lot of flats with these boilers in them and i am not up on them. They are in the Halifax area though. If you let me know your mobile no i may be able to pass some work your way (if you want some)? If not, it...

    Alpha cd28

    Alpha cd28

Thanks again Paul. I'll try that next time i go. Got a problem with an alpha cb24 at another set of posh flats (not as posh as the first lot tho') neon 'b' is flashing every 5 seconds. Manual says either pump or pcb. pump is definately working. When i took the cover off the pcb it worked ok but...

    Alpha cd28

Thanks for that one Paul. Looking at the manual (fig 23 page 23) the pic is showing 2 fixing screws. Are these relevant to the switch? The instructions say just to prise it up from the diverter valve body.

    Alpha cd28

Thanks for that suggestion (all). The boiler is in a cubby hole upstairs and the sink is downstairs in the kitchen and bathrooms. I can't shout loud enough for her to be able to hear me (its that far away) for me to say on off on off etc but i'll check out that part and give it a try next time...

    Alpha cd28

Definately not - its the penthouse flat in a block of flats. you oughta see this place, its gotta be £500,000 worth of flat at least. This woman never washes anything apart from herself and when the boiler won't give hot water, i'm getting the blame. But seriously, how CAN you diagnose an...

    Alpha cd28

Been called out today to an alpha cd28 which gives off cold water about twice a week and won't get hot. The rest of the time its ok, but the owner isn't happy with it. How can you diagnose an intermittent fault. i'm guessing its a faulty DHW thermistor? Any suggestions?

    glow worm swift flow 80

check the valves underneath the boiler as the cold water inlet may be throttled down a bit with this valve. There are 2 screws on the valves, one is a drain screw and the other is for the ball valve and should be in line with the valve body. if it is at an angle, that is the reason for the slow...

    Halstead Quattro Gold

why do you need to replace the whole boiler if the pcb goes down? just get another pcb! That will cost £150 tops plus labour to fit it (maybe another £100) as opposed to £1000 - £1500 to change the boiler. The boiler only costs about £500 and the labour could account for the rest, ie 1 day to...

Moving Gas Meter with limited space to move to!

There is approx. 400mm between my new wall and the boundary wall 400mm doesn't seem like much room anyway for someone to get in to check the meter each time you have a service done on your appliances? I know its only once a year but even so! What is the width of the meter box? They are...

New combi but shower not hot!

It's very quiet when running too and it modulates from 6 to 24kw. Very impressive. i might have got the 3rd gen bit stuff wrong. It was at least 3rd but it could have been more. I was more interested in getting a free bacon butty from him to tell the truth but like i said, everything looks...
