New Floodlight with Switch in the Garage

Thanks for that, however it seems to be (for whatever reason) the way it's done in my house? I'll confirm tonight though and post up a pic. Like your idea about the remote switch however I will mainly just be using it for working on the car in the dark rather than switching it on when...

New Floodlight with Switch in the Garage

I think this is what what I am trying to do - without the supply to the next light. http://www.diynot.com/wiki/_detail/electrics:lighting:slhar1w2g.gif?id=electrics%3Alighting%3Asingle_way_lighting

New Floodlight with Switch in the Garage

I've seen similar switches in house (that I've change from the standard white) where there is a small red wire running between the two common connections. Presumably taking the live to the next circuit (if that's the correct wording). I'll take a pic tonight of the switch as it is (currently...

New Floodlight with Switch in the Garage

Just looking for advice on whether this is even possible before I call out the professionals. I suspect it is but wouldn't be keen if it is complicated (expensive). What I am looking to do is fairly simple; add a floodlight over my garage door to light my driveway however I don’t want it to...

    Intermediate Switch

Well it's easy to be rude when it's not face to face. I have used Volex in other rooms in the house with no problem, they have been perfectly reliable and a 1/2 of the cost of MK or Crabtree. It's the polished chrome with white insert and angled edge BTW.

    Intermediate Switch

Thanks, that's what I thought. So, not really sure what to do now...they must do an intermediate switch...more searching me thinks. Any suggestions welcome : )

    Intermediate Switch

Hi folks, this may be a silly question but can I use a 2 way switch as an intermediate? I bought a range of Volex switches and for reasons I cannot fathom they do not do an intermediate 1g switch in the range I have bought. That'll teach me for not buying Crabtree or MK!

    External Electrics

Thanks for that, my inital thoughts were just to lay the conduit around the garden so that the cable can be installed at a later date but I don't know if it would just be easier to put the cable in now. If there are any electricians in Dunfermline that are interested in helping, let me know! :D

    External Electrics

I am currently in the process of landscaping my garden which will include a Shed, Patio area and Deck area all at different locations in the garden. The deck will be attached to the house, the patio in 1 far corner and the shed in the opposing corner. I am at the early stages but would like...

    Metal Cutting Drill Bit

Hi, I am looking to cut a circular hole in a chrome electrical blanking plate but I am not sure of the correct bit to use in my drill. The hole needs to be between 25-30mm so a regular drill bit won't be big enough to do the job. This is probably a very easy question but thought best to...

    Running Ceiling Wire

No, it's a detached house but having looked at the floor above there is no straight forward way to lift the floor and doing it from below would be the best option.

    Running Ceiling Wire

I should probably mention I need to do this on the ground floor and can't get access from the upper floor.

    Running Ceiling Wire

I am considering doing the prep work for having recessed ceiling lights installed need some advise of how best to run the additional wire. Obviously I want to inflict as little damage as possible but expect to cut some holes to help route the cable but in the situation where I need to run a...
