What size feed for 3 taps

I take it your running this in blue polly? If so remember that a 20mm polly pipe will equate to 1/2" or 15mm. The 50mm that you originally planned would equate to 1 1/2" or 42mm copper which is quite large. How often would the taps be used and would they be used at the same time?

Air source heat pump and water pressure

Did you have an open vented hot water system before? You inc mains pressure may be low causing a low flow to the taps. This is presuming you did not have an unvented cylinder previous to your ashp installation.

    House very difficult to heat...

A good start would be cavity insulation. This can be done for virtually no cost to the customer. A majority of a radiators heat comes from convection rather than radiation so maybe also look at upgrading them if they are under performing. It may also be a thought to have the house energy...

    House very difficult to heat...

Having cavity wall insulation should make quite a bit of difference. You can also do some calcs to check you have the right size radiators. Are the radiators hot from top to bottom? Is the boiler new or old? Are there draughty? There's so many factors that. An effect the efficiency of your...

    Underfloor Heating Setup

The issue with long runs is usually sorted by adding another zone and thermostat to the same room if it's very large or as you stated having the room stat open up two ports. The problem you might have teeing off of a single zone is the flow rate, as this is very important in ufh. Ive installed...

    Gas Safe question

My cousin is a submergable arc welder and he's on mega money but again there's lots of health implecations. He has a bupa health check once a month although he did inform me that people are usually led to believe that it shortens your life expectancy, gives you brittle bones ect which is not...

    New Magnaclean

The new spirotech have an external magnet that claim to collect 90+% of black iron oxide in a single pass and although I haven't fit a domestic size one before I'd bet they actually collect more loose debris in the system than any of the other in line filters on the market

    Gas Safe question

Hah I'm not on the stick today. Finishing off a doc m the a bit of 355spiral to an ahu. I was planning on going for the full commercial gas too but speaking to our regular Mhs boilers engineer he advised that I go for domestic first to see how I liked it as the commercial side of commissioning...

    Gas Safe question

Your correct about good welders earning very good money in power stations and fuel line setups but I'd rather not spend a lifetime in a job that I really dont enjoy. Youl never see an old welder with good eyes and the chances are most of them have had health issues due to a lifetime of welding.

    Gas Safe question

ive got class 2 welding, I never really saw the need to go for class 1 as i really REALLY didnt want to carry it on and go for a career in it. Ive also got gas welding on my ticket but thats really a dying trade now which is a shame as i really enjoyed it, so much more calm than destructive...

    Gas Safe question

Theres nothing wrong with broadening my horizons. I find it silly that im able to weld 8" gas and install it, feeding a 1 megawatt setup but im not able,by law, to install an off the shelf combi boiler. The boilers I install come with commisioning packs usually I dont deal with that side of...

    Air vent on CH pipework

if your going spend the money on an AAV buy a spirovent. It will set you back 40 quid+ but you wont really get a better one on the market. These come as a half inch female thread as standard so youl have to get a copper to iron to convert to copper. I personally use a good quality ballofix...

    Glow worm Ultracom

Yea the main selling point on them was the vaillant guts and the new top of the range series of controls at half the price of WB and Vaillant plug-ins. Theyre also offering a five year warranty on the ultracom2 if installed by a glow-worm energy club member. I think its possible to get the...

Leak between my kitchen sink waste trap and the drainage

The odds are the plumber lost the sealing washer and back washer. Its probably cheapest to buy a 40mm mechanical waste coupling or trap and use the parts from there unless you can find a small plumbing shop that sell the individual bits. A 40mm trap will usually cost around 6 quid.

What tool do i need here ?

it looks like a lockshield type drain off. you can use either a 3way key or unspin the locking nut and unwind as per a normal drain cock. Unwinding the locking nut can sometimes case a weep if the drain off is old but then again this can also occur on an old drain cock.

    New Magnaclean

The main leak problems ive had with the older model were from the iso valves leaking from the glands. This has apparently been solved with a higher quality seal but i suppose only time will tell as theyve only just been released.

    Glow worm Ultracom

My company is thinking of installing quite a few of these in some new appartments due to a good pitch from the sales rep. I personally havent put any in but wondered if any of you lot had. We usually go for WB or Valliant and on the odd occasion the Ideal Independant on lower budget installs...
