Butt hinge pin removal with door closed

If I'm reading what you say right then the shoot bolts are disengaged and the latch is the only thing that keeps the door locked. If the thumb turn will not engage the latch then the only thing that I think might work is to take the window out of the door and use a couple of air wedges like...

Butt hinge pin removal with door closed

Yes it is, but they are designed so that if someone tries to break in from the out side they can't gain entry but you can still snap the lock from the inside assuming that there is enough of the lock to grip with some locking pliers. Before you try this, have you tried to unlock it from the...

Butt hinge pin removal with door closed

Probably the easiest way to open the door is snap the lock from the inside then use a Allen key to turn the cam. It will mean a new lock but that may be the price to pay for getting the door open. Mike

    Sink and bath blocked

Try a bottle of plughole unblocker from a supermarket first because more than likely it's a ball of soap/hair that is wedged some where . Did it just block up or has it got worse over weeks? Mike

Try these https://upvcspares4repairs.co.uk/gardinia-4-8mm-x-25mm-upvc-repair-fixing-screws-in-yellow-finish.html they are 4.8 gauge and I think the normal screws are 4.3 gauge. But if in doubt about the length of screw give them a call , they have been very helpful to me in the past. Mike

    New Build Garden Shed

If the builders are still on site then have a chat with them and they will lay a base for you at a much more reasonable cost than if you got a tradesman in, or even if you did it yourself. By the time you have run around picking up slabs, cement and sand it's more cost effective to ask them to...

How do I stop this from taking over my garden?

I know exactly what you mean, I used a stick like thingy that I used to dab on plants in the lawn or a dandelion in the border without affecting other plants. But nowadays if I'm spraying near plants I want to keep I use a bit of cardboard or scrap of wood to protect the plant while I'm treating...

How do I stop this from taking over my garden?

You will not be able to remove all the roots, they are quite brittle and tiny pieces snap off and form new plants. Your only solution I'm afraid is to treat the top growth with a weed killer that will kill the roots at the same time. It may take a couple of seasons to get rid of all of it as you...

How do I stop this from taking over my garden?

Bind weed has rhizome type roots that store energy when the weed dies back in winter then uses that stored energy to push new shoots through the soil where it will use the sun and rain to constantly replenish it's energy to survive. You have to apply a systemic weed killer that will take it down...

Ceiling Staining and Wrinkly Gloss :(

I can only answer your question about the water stain as I have had to several over the years ( mainly helping a friend out doing refurbs for letting) and the best way to cover a stain is to use a oil based white undercoat. I have tried a few stain blockers on the market but I know from what I...

    Managing your own building work

We had a double extension built in the last year and we used a private building control firm that came when we wanted them and offered solutions to anomalies. Here are some other points to consider; 1. Get the calculations for any steel work before you start, BC will want to see it (probably) 2...

How do people keep paths totally weed free?

It probably has more to do with the path being in the shade of the wooded area not allowing enough light through and the leaf mould acting as a mulch to suppress any weeds. Mike

    Plasplugs

The other day I had to use a cable tie to help the plug grip , and I must say that out of all the methods I've tried this has to be one of the best. You can get the ties in different sizes to suit the hole, win , win Mike
