    Frost Stat Query

I have a 12:00 on-12:00 off on my programmer but not 12:00 on-12|:01 off. In any event it lasts for only seconds not a minute. I await further comments on my 10.18 post.

    Frost Stat Query

I have only actually noticed it a couple of times (and presumably have missed others) but cannot remember the times.

    Frost Stat Query

I have just sent an email to Vaillant Technical on this matter and will advise of response. Many thanks for all responses to date.

    Frost Stat Query

A new pump and 3 way valve was also fitted 6 months ago.

    Frost Stat Query

I seem to have received 2 totally differing replies, one relating to the "built in" boiler frost protection (lasting minutes) and one relating to a "built in function of briefly turning the pump on momentarily every 24 hours". As my boiler is almost new, am I right in thinking that the latter...

    Frost Stat Query

Many thanks for that. Don't think I had used a cold tap before but what is a "dead leg" in this context ? You mention "the built in function of briefly turning the pump on momentarily every 24 hours" - is that a well known function as I have never heard about it previously ?

    Frost Stat Query

Thanks for that, but why does it "go off" so quickly after only a few seconds ?

    Frost Stat Query

I had a Vaillant ecoTech Plus Open Vent boiler fitted in my loft about 6 months together with replacement Honeywell Frost (set at 5C) and Pipe (set at 25C) stats - these temperatures follow the makers instructions. These replaced 30 year old boiler and frost and pipe stats, again in the loft to...

Drayton LP522 Dual Channel Programmer Query

Thanks for confirming that the same amount of energy (gas) is used, no matter whether your heaing and hot water "come on" together or "come on" separately. That is all I wanted to know.

Drayton LP522 Dual Channel Programmer Query

Thanks for the reply. If all "variables and conditions" were equal, woud central heating engineers recommend having the heating and hot water "coming on" together or separately ?

Drayton LP522 Dual Channel Programmer Query

Surely some experienced CH engineer on here could answer my query ?

Drayton LP522 Dual Channel Programmer Query

A general query that I have been thinking about for a while and one I have been given different opinions on. I want my CH system (Vaillant ecoTec Plus open-vent boiler) to "come on" as follows as I find these timings work fine for me : Early morning : heating 1 hour - hot water 1/2 hour...

    Boiler Query

A couple of years ago I got 4 quotes (1 from BG and 3 from "local firms") and they all suggested 18kW !! I have 10 radiators and 2 bathrooms.

    Boiler Query

Hi. I live in a bungalow with an Ideal Classic NF40 boiler that was installed (open vented system - rear flue) when the house was built in 1994. The boiler was moved from the garage up to the loft when my garage was "converted" about 15 years ago. The boiler has been serviced every year (by BG)...

    Exterior gloss query

Hi, I would like to obtain some exterior gloss in shade 70RR 10/250 (a purple/plum shade) - my queries are: 1. Where can I get that mixed, is it oil or water based and what is the minimum amount ? 2. Is that code a "Dulux only" paint code or a "universal" paint code ? Many thanks...

    UVPC windows / shock sensors

Thanks for the confirmation. I will do nothing at all, other than unscrwing the sensors from the existing wooden frames and re-attaching to the new UVPC frames. Will definitely not start fiddling with any wires ! Cheers. Stuart.

    UVPC windows / shock sensors

Hi Grahame, Yes, they are vibration units on the windows. When you say "cover" - do you mean what appears to be a circular cover (with Aritech on it) on the front face, as I can't see anything else. If so,what is underneath this cover and do I need to do anything "inside" when I remove...

    UVPC windows / shock sensors

Hi, Thanks for the reply. What do you mean by "...when you take a lid off" - what is a "lid" ? I live in a bungalow and the hall is covered by a PIR and all the windows and doors "off" the hall have shock sensors fitted. Cheers.

    UVPC windows / shock sensors

Hi, I have a 16 year old (wired) burglar alarm system (Optima XM Control Panel) with shock sensors (Aritech) fitted on all my (wooden) windows. As I am shortly having replacement UVPC windows fitted I would like to know: 1. Will these sensors work ok, if re-fitted to the UVPC frames, in the...
