MFI Kitchen Kickboards - trimming... how?

Score a line in the face with a stanley knife so you don't get chipping . Cut the top of the kickboards not the bottom , that way if it goes wrong it wont be seen at eye level . Myself i would just plane it because it wont be seen anyway and do the scoring thing at any corners or exposed parts...

Double glazing original 30s front door keeping original glas

I would say get the glass repaired by an expert and get a 4/6/4 dg unit made up that you can fit into a rebate on the inside of the door . It will be tight but i don't think you will find anyone to put stained glass inside a dg unit . Regarding the regs , if you are just replacing the door and...

Carpentry for Glazed porch- quick or clever?

I haven't shopped at Jewson for years but i think their timber is white wood . You would be better going to a timber yard and buying a joinery grade redwood . Also for the little extra cost a hardwood cill would be a good idea . As for primer , just an oilbased wood primer will do but others may...

    irregular internal archway / doorway

I assumed you would be doing the work yourself . If it's what i am thinking then the arch part will be added to a square opening . If this is the case you should be able to carefully remove the arch and fit a frame with doors without having to alter the sides . Openings are normally made a...

    irregular internal archway / doorway

I would say you already have a lintel or the wall is not load bearing . It's not very often internal walls have arched brickwork to span a gap . What age is the house ?

    Bevel raised panel missing

The way i did it was to cut grooves on the table saw to the depth i wanted to plane too . My door as with yours has a flat area for the beading to sit on and lip over the rebate . The second cut on my panel was because i had a flat area on the top rather than all going to one point , you may...

    Suspended floor replacement

If the new driveway has been built right up to your property you need to cut it back so its not bridging the damp course . Dig a trench and back fill with pea shingle , a brick wide would do and this will also allow you to block out the pea shingle where your new vents will go . Cut your...

    interior door swinging closed problem

Maybe he has fitted rising butts so you dont have a huge gap when the door is closed but it will allow for your out of level floor ? Ok a bit beyond what a floor fitter would do but at least you now comply with fire regs :D
