I know what you mean about plastic, not really what I’ve done before, always been full copper but due to time etc I’ve decided on plastic. As I’m doing this gradually while working through the whole house, it works well. I’m sure the current 15mm is causing issues of the house not heating up...

Thanks for that, would I be better with a heat only boiler (like my vailllant 438) and a separate pump as I already have a newish grundfos pump and the boiler would presumably be smaller and more likely to fit in the cupboard with a tank Pipes are going to be 22mm everywhere except for last few...

yes pipe layouts were a bit crude, they of course would be run straight either under joists on ground floor and through joists on upper floors. There no to little loft insulation in the house, the area isn’t really accessible, I’ve only seen it through a hole in the eaves storage and at max...

The other issue I have is old radiators with old valves which are stuck open so can not balance radiators as a temp measure. All the rads need changing anyway apart from the 2 I’ve already changed

Thank you....I'm seriously intrigued to see this. I know most engineers (not slating them) just look at the house and quote the biggest 'standard' boiler. We have a 38kw Vaillant 438 at the moment which I 've turned down to about 20kw as it cycles too much. Setting it too low means the house...

Hi Vulcan Thanks for taking this on for a bit of fun, it's much appreciated. I've added pictures of front + rear and floor plans of proposed radiator locations, rough new pipe locations and sizes. Currently 22mm comes off zone valve and I'm 99% confident changes to 15mm / 1/2" pipework under...

Thank you, much appreciated I’ll get some pictures, drawings and measurements together. The news are not in place yet, but will put the proposed sizes in as I’m slowly going to go through and change them as we refurbish

Hi all just to update, I had a heating engineer around yesterday and he recommended a Worcester 35kw or a vanillant 37kw. Does this sound right or too excessive? thanks

Is there much difference in getting easy lay pipe for my central heating runs? Not sure if I’ll feed through joists and suspend them under the joists

    New Water Main advice

Thanks. I’ve got some JG speedfit stuff left over from years ago. I’ll be using that for my temp stuff and was looking at hep20 for other central heating work anyway as plastic is easier to feed under suspended floors

Thanks for that. would you then use inserts and fittings frkm hep20?

    New Water Main advice

Sorry fat fingers, it will be 32mm. Due to be fitted mid February. Due to timing of getting boiler/tank fitted later, I’ll need to run temp 22mm pipe to just after old stoptap to ensure we still have water. Luckily it’s a fairly easy run from garage to the corner of the kitchen. This will then...

    New Water Main advice

Yes a few have said the same. I need to find a 25m roll of it. My incomer will be 35mm pipe reduced down to a 28mm full bite lever valve to which I’ll connect this pipe and run it to the location of new tank is it better to hang off the joists or lay it on the ground? thanks

    New Water Main advice

There is space but not enough to crawl in it. I may just run 28mm pex instead and insulate it all

    New Water Main advice

Thanks for that. I was hoping to pull it through, so guess I’ll need more boards up to Ensure it has correct insulation. What’s the best the use?

Or should I run it internally in 28mm plastic pipe?
